From as far back as building that stadium, Coventry have been a disgrace. Way to big for them, in and out of administration, in and out of the ground that isn't theirs, in and out of the courts, it should be in and out of the League, and stay out.

 

Yes. The EFL is a pathetic body, conprised mainly of people whose main job is to keep their jobs.

 

I was speaking to a York fan about this. They're playing at a new stadium shared with the York Knights rugby league team - so far, no such problems. Don't know if that will be the same throughout winter.

 

I might wrong here, but I'm sure Wigan rent/share their pitch with a rugby club, and don't seem to have much problem. Aye, sometimes you can see the faded rugby markings, but the pitch seems to hold up OK.
I think the difference could be that Wigan have taken the responsibility for its maintenance and upkeep, whereas coventry haven't. They are hoping someone else (Wasps?) sorts it.
End of the day, if the Mobile Leper Colony (copyright @Smug in Boots) can't fulfil their fixtures, they should be hoyed out the league.

 

Arent repair works underway? I thought that they were doing what we did mid season last year and stitching in synthetic fibres to get by, until a new pitch can be done properly?

... The question is why it's taken so long to get started.

And, don't forget, our pitch was nowhere near as bad, they'll be hoping this solution actually works.

 

Dont disagree with any of that. Wasnt comparing them to us, just saying I thought it was same answer. Wonder who is paying if Wasps are skint? Not a cheap thing to do I suspect.

 

IMO certainly in the championship and premier league, sharing the ground with a rugby club shouldn’t be allowed. It’s obviously going to impact the pitch.

 

In my opinion the EFL are running scared of points deductions. The Derby situation was handled terribly by them and they kept backing off and backing off. They seem to have also now shifted the goalposts re allowing covid losses. They used their power once with Bury, and just about got away with it. With Derby I think they have realised it is too dangerous a thing to press the points deduction button quickly. I think they would sooner dish out fines and be seen to be doing anything, than dealing properly with clubs and misconduct and creating workload they are not able to follow through on. Just an opinion of mine, and a hint I doubt coventry will be punished seriously here.

 

Correct. And often all ostensibly done "with the supporters " in mind.

But of course, no thought for the supporters of the majority of clubs who struggle while the try and run their clubs in a solvent manner. These supporters the real victims of the timidity and slippery behaviour of the EFL.

I've said it elsewhere I think.....even in my footy playing days on park pitches,any team who couldn't fulfil their fixtures were chucked out of the league.
Coventry have a duty to make arrangements to play their matches on the scheduled day....if they can't,then it should be bye bye.

The Coventry situation just became more serious.

Wasps were struggling financially when they moved to Coventry. They cited the move as the answer to their problems. Seems it hasn't been. But then even I could have predicted that moving the club miles and miles away from their traditional fan base would be a bad move.

 

Apparently they have liabilities of £50m ...

... no way back imo, Rugby isn't football and the money isn't there.

In all honesty, what is 'Wasps', I've really no idea.

 

Normally I wouldn't want any club to fold or go under, but I would make an exception for the Mobile Leper Colony that is Coventry.
