Me and you have crossed swords on these matters . The range of statements , ‘ jokes’ phrases etc you listed are appalling and they are appalling to the absolute vast majority of the population . I laughed like others at Love Thy Neighbour, Alf Garnett etc , it was of the time . It will have been of ignorance and stupidity and as years passed you realise what it was . I think many others on here of that era and elsewhere probably did the same. I’ve no idea of your age so cannot know your upbringing experiences education etc I am tired however of being constantly labelled by black vocal tv guests as a a ‘ white patriarchal privileged racist ‘ It’s f****in insulting. I have no issues with skin colour but I have many issues with cultures that do not operate equally in this society .
And if you even question that explain it to the 13 year old girl molested leaving Bev Rd baths a week or so ago by 4 Asian guys !!! less picking up on assumed racist comments and more , as you say ‘ calling out’ this behaviour might be appreciated .

A lot of people at the time seemed to miss the point you were laughing at Alf Garnett not with him. Which was the intention of Johnny Speight. Any thoughts that Warren Mitchell was a racist are preposterous.
I found Love Thy Neighbour cringeworthy then and still do.
As a teenager I laughed at Love Thy Neighbour and Till Death is Do Part, not realising for quite a while, that the racist always got their comeuppance, looking at it now, in the 2020’s the language looks horrendous, but websites like this allow very similar language, I’ve tried calling it out a couple of times, I’ve probably said similar in private in the past, but you learn that it’s going to upset someone so I don’t use it.
The Mods need to get a grip because either the board will get shut down or reported to the cops.
If anyone on this forum is using the sort of language Ben refers to or was used widely many many years ago then it is totally unacceptable to be honest I thought the forum clientele were above it or past it.

The Allams ****ed this forum up. Sad but true. It was a much more fun and harmonious place until then. Then the onus moved from trying to make each other laugh to trying to get one over each other. Then some political threads were allowed to run enough for posters to cultivate dislike of each other on a personal level, and you arrive where we are now and have been for the last however many years. The lid has been blown off and the contents can never be stuffed back in.
Maybe we all have new accounts HullCity1, HullCity2, HullCity3 and so on and agree never to post about anything other than football, fish and chips and toiletries and that would exclude correcting grammer too.
