Finished midtable, spend 250m and now look to be midtable again.

    Everton MK2.

Would hope for a top 10 push and hope to see a cup run. As it stands, think we are looking mediocre at best, would be lucky to finish 10th.

If we bluster and blow smoke up people's arses when the window opens, I've got to question who's making transfer decisions at the top.

Maybe, but I actually think it's a stronger sqaud in terms of depth newcastle need to climb much higher.

The 11 has improved, but the squad hasn't and we've got to remember other clubs spent big and bigger also.

And only 4 points separating 10th and 5th cos the teams have only played 6 or 7 games!

The second half of last season we were 3rd in the form table, and we finished 11th despite an absolutely dreadful start. Saying we'll finish 11th this season is massively pessimistic.

Yeah, the squad depth is an issue in fairness but it will get better with each window. I still think this team should be finishing inside the top 10. Pushing for 7th but probably finish 8th or 9th. Who realistically do you think will finish above us outside the big 6 and Brighton?

Last season is gone mate and those results were grinded out. Newcastle are quite simply not the 3rd best team in the league.

11th isn't the most optimistic I could've reached a whole 3 places higher over 38 games, but I don't believe this squad will score the goals required and don't think the squad is deep enough.

We've still got Longstaff Fraser and Murphy playing week in week out and that's ultimately why I opted out of a top half prediction.

You going 6th and laughing at me saying 11th is interesting though.. I mean if you says 8th or 9th that's not impossible?

Next season will be the one where it kicks on a bit.. Maybe from January, but I don't see newcastle going balls deep unless in trouble.

once newcastke have another her 3 or 4 good players they'll be able to cope with the inevitable injuries suspensions that will blight a good 11 over a season.

It's the same team as last season, only better.

Longstaff has gone to the bench now Bruno is back, and Fraser will be on the bench as soon as ASM returns. Plus Fraser played OK last match and had a season last time, and Murphy is only ever a sub, and can be an impact player sometimes. If you were citing players from last season like Clark, Hayden and Lewis being in the team then I'd agree, but those players as stand ins isn't the end of the world.

Who is going to finish above us to put us in 11th then? Big 6 fair enough, but then who? Brighton, Everton, Palace and Villa? We're every bit is good as any of them and probably better.

Exactly it's the same we've still got too many poor players. The other clubs get better also and I think you're ignoring the fact other clubs spent in the summer.

Literally any of the clubs could finish above Newcastle I don't know how the entire league will end up mate I'm not trying to be mystic Meg.

I have given my reasons for shooting at 11th and of course I said around 11th, so there's some marginal scope either side of that.

If you were to say 9th that's not unreasonable, but you predicting 6th or 7th while suggesting 11th is laughable is a bit strange... I would have thought 11th was far more likely than 6th or 7th?

Nope. I would like progress this season and top 10 is a must for me.

I know people will say I have delusions. But we have the players to finish top ten.

Howe has to deliver a mid table result minimum.

    Isn't 12th mid table?

Teams like Everton and Villa just don't look that great this season, Palace and Brighton are decent, but Leicester and West Ham have made awful starts, and I really don't see the likes of Fulham and Brentford being anything other that lower mid table.

11th is definitely a pessimistic prediction for a team on the up like us, a slow but OK start does not mean all last season's momentum is lost.

Not unless we have 24 teams in the prem.

I want 10th because it’s top half. Anything better and it’s a win.

Last season we finished 11th despite a dreadful start, thier needs to be progress from that.

11th this season will be a huge disappointment.

I agree, 11th would be a big disappointment unless we go balls deep in one of the cups.

I'm with everyone else, 11th after spending what we have spent is really poor.

I don't give a **** what others have spent in truth, it's nothing all that impressive.

If we beat Fulham somehow suddenly we are looking **** hot tbf, 2 wins 74 draws and 1 loss? Can't complain.

So you're saying 10th is the only position that's mid table?

I mean I get you, but I would say it's anything from around 8th to 13th
