The wife and I did The Queue on Friday (and into Saturday). We made a group of Queue friends. There were 8 of us, including an ex-serviceman who'd had a quite distinguished career. It was an honour to share the journey with him as he went to see "The Boss" one last time.

Seeing all these service lads and lasses today brings home what it must have meant to him.

No one can hold a candle to us Brits ,for tradition and pageantry because no one else has the History we have. This country wrote the book.

100% mate. Devastated I couldn't go due to being offshore, otherwise I would have been straight down there with one of my best pals who is ex Navy to pay our final respects to the lady we swore an oath to.

How the family walked all that way. I couldn't have done that at my mum's or dad's funeral

That was just the short walk. Isn't there the long walk down the mall to go after the service?

My son just sent a message saying that whatever you feel about then Royalist and religious aspects the whole thing is part of what makes everything real. Without it everything from Alfred the Great to the Battle of Britain is pointless.

The organisation, precision and logistics leave me in awe - as do these people who are doing what they’re doing at their mam/grandma etc’s funeral

A little bit shambolic on the way out of Westminster Hall by the people either side of the gun carriage (not the pushers or pullers) . Clearly not practiced getting through that gate. Everyone else brilliant.

Charles looks exhausted. Grieving along with all the duties he has undertaken must have left him with very few moments of rest!

Don't think I've ever heard my house so quiet, my son especially has had some lovely thoughtful comments this morning

I know we live in a technological age , but personally I don’t think this is something for the crowd to make home movies on the phone cameras .
