It appears that everyone could do a good job as managers as it just means picking the team because if you need to tell footballers how to play football you are in big trouble.
Richie Morgan was a client of mine, an absolute gent....asked him lots about his time at city. He was sacked when city were sixth in the league as he reflected! MASKY OF LLANDAFF
Sorry mate, if you genuinely think it's that simple I suggest you go watch the Man City documentary that was on Amazon Prime. Watching Pep talk about the movement of players in order to create the spaces for others to move into to create opportunities was exceptionally insightful. Managers nowadays have to plan passages of play like a chess grand master does.... We're talking premeditated moves quite some time ahead of creating opportunities. Of course, that could all be bullocks and the whole pro-licence set up nothing more than a money making scam and sending a group of blokes out onto the pitch with no instructions and saying "just go do your own thing" may be just as effective of course
So Man City players would not know how to play if not for Pep, get Pep down here in the lower leagues and let`s see how he does then.
Rumours of a Hudson & Bamba combination Gabbidon & Young spring to mind If they were still both alive I’d prefer the Chuckle Brothers.
Of course they'd know how to play. What they would have a problem with is playing together as a unit whilst holding on to their individual skills.
Perhaps the board told Morison he had 10 games and they would review his position then. If that was the case then surely he would’ve pulled out all the stops and got his players to bust a gut at Huddersfield. Or did he rest on his laurels because he had just secured a half decent win at Middlesbrough?
I'd love to see Sol Bamba back with us but for his sake, I hope it doesn't happen. I don't want to see another servant of the club sacked. We need to be careful as our reputation will be getting increasingly negative. Attracting players has been hard enough and now it will be with managers. At the moment, I would question the decision making of anyone that takes on the role. Sad to see my club like this
A wiser move would have been to plug an older head in alongside SM to the end of the season to provide advice and guidance.
Absolutely right. As you and others have said previously, a DoF even on a fixed term basis, would have helped SM to develop his own skills.
Rumour is a phone/video bust up between SM and VT at half time Saturday. As a result SM's fate was inevitable.
Without accepting or refuting the premise of your question, SM would have had two choices. Either work with the DoF and develop or face the inevitable consequences. Had he chosen not to listen, then at least we'd have had a football person in place to guide us with the next appointment.
If VT wants to talk is anyone going to refuse? Perhaps SM did? By the way, if you read my post, I said "rumour". I didn't say it was true. There has been other speculation on here not treated with the same disdain.
Et Tu Hudson?? The madness of putting a defense minded manager in charge of an attack minded team, not that he is any good at coaching the defense.
I think you nailed it on the other thread SB when you mentioned money and the false economy. Speaks volumes about how the club is being run.
