Herculaneum is brilliant. On a side note, sitting on a terrace in Sorrento, looking at Vesuvius whilst the sun went down, is where She first persuaded me to try an Aperol. True story.
Yep, agree, you hear when this happens at other clubs, that the captain/players lock the Manager out of dressing room and have matters out between themselves, has Coyle & Greaves got it in them to stand up and have a go, do they feel intimidated by some new comers, or is there a “them & us” scenario? I don’t see any input from them on the pitch during the match. If not, or don’t feel able, perhaps there could be a bring your brother to work day, and Lewie could let him do some motivational talking. Shota alluded in interview that he is not getting himself across to the players and/or lost the dressing room. If so, its alarming how quickly things have deteriorated, and needs immediate action. In bottom of table battles, back to back Tues/Sat midst winter, flair players/show ponies are a luxury we can’t afford, you need grafters prepared to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in.
Funnily enough, we’re staying in Sorrento, at a hotel with a terrace overlooking Vesuvius but she discovered it the last time we were here in 2010 for our honeymoon. Should have been back for our 10th anniversary but covid put paid to that idea!
Just to clarify, my Dad was from Barton and as a small boy was given the option of going to see a game at either Grimsby (First Division at the time), Scunthorpe or City and thankfully made the right choice. He was hooked from that point but at 16 joined the Army’s boy’s service and a few years later found himself fighting Chinese rebels in Malaya. Another few years on he was posted to Germany and met my (German) mother. Fast forward about 10 years and the 8 year old me arrived in England for the first time, followed shortly after by my first trip to Boothferry Park and the rest, as they say……
Has anyone confirmed if Jones was injured or was it the words on Tuesday... or X Y Z player saying, i'm not playing if he is...?
Been thinking about this.... to save the friendship, the best thing for him to do would be resign but still get paid off...
If they had someone lined up he'd be gone. He was expecting the chop himself after the whistle yesterday.
You don't get paid off if you resign. They'll come to an arrangement and it won't be taken personally. Its simply football. Most managers get sacked. Both parties knew this all along.
I know this MO... but I think you're thinking the same that he would be looked after financially... the resignation would look better for Acun...
A bit of speculation from Turkey - Sergen Yalcin - ex Besiktas coach, not sure how did would play out as Acun is a bit Fenerbahce fan. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sergen_Yalçın
Sadly for Shota the lack of an enforcer on the recruitment list has left him and his successor with a porous midfield.
Cannot see anything happening for a fortnight. Unless we have real rabbit out of the hat appointment type manager wanting the job. Two home games coming up, two weeks for Shota to have an influence, or not, it is also two weeks of reflection for the owner and if we are pissed off how do you think he is feeling? It's also two weeks for these 'leaders' in the squad we are led to believe we have to have an influence, or not.
