Yes he wasn't exactly everyone's cup of tea... he got that part right when hired he was completely useless, but somehow kept the club up for 2 seasons which I credited him for, but last season the rot kicked in and the takeover saved the club without a doubt . It's easy to ignore how crap the squad still is and expect to win games, but really I think newcastle are going to struggle for another season before it starts to snowball. I still expect to lose at this point because I still see a large portion of Ashley's newcastle on the team. It'll be what people want in 2 or 3 years, but right now newcastle are miles off top 8 .
I could bring out screenshots but I'm a man of my word and said I would stop . I'll just tell you that I've been in the vault all morning and I can assure you draws weren't good enough for Bruce and it wasn't the fact the players aren't good enough or because of injuries
I agree with most of this but I don't agree with the miles off the top 8 bit. I honestly think we can and should make top 8 and from what I've seen so far we will.
Don’t disagree with this except the rot set in well before last season. Ashley’s fault ultimately not Bruce for the avoidance of doubt.
It wasn't about the draws for Bruce. or the losses, or the lack of wins. It was the lack of fitness, the lack of cohesion, the lack of a tactic, the lack of an idea, the lack of hope and the fact he is a complete bellend that was the problem.
That's all secondary to the point in discussion and don't I dispute it mate. I'm simply saying Bruce wasn't afforded the same understanding and was even criticised after wins and two good seasons . Fans simply waited until it went wrong and said HAH we were right. My view was different I said well done when results were good and **** off when it was actually going wrong .
He’s doing worse because since he took over you took more points than all clubs bar 2? So far this season, you’ve only won 1 game (yes I know also only lost once) and that was against Forest. I don’t get the ‘never had chance to manage higher’ comment? He managed in the prem for number of years. Surely every year he was manager he therefor had a chance to finish higher than lower end of the table no? Im not saying he’s an awful manager. But it just seems now that expectation has increased, the new owner/manager bounce is now over, struggling s bit more. Hes been given money to improve the squad this summer since end of last season and results havent improved, they’ve got worse so far.
**** Ashley and Bruce mate ... it's really just me noticing fans being criticised for pointing out areas of concern and thinking hang on .. Essentially if fans on here keep drawing the comparison to this time last year then they should look at their own comments and compare them also.... let's look at the full balance or it's like a Lee Mason type decision.
It was going wrong from day 1 mate. He rocked up and started blabbering on about how he wanted to change it up, how he was going to make us more entertaining, how the players should be attacking far more. He took one bad beating, then started blaming Rafa for implementing his tactic into the team better than he could implement his tactic into the team, rather than continuing with his own philosophy he tried to copy Rafa's philosophy but didn't have the true belief in it which ultimately effected the players and caused his own downfall. For that reason alone the man was a coward.
To be fair mate there's only 2 games that are being questioned. The first one being Palace 2 weeks ago. we dominated the game and had a goal chalked off by VAR that everyone believes should have stood. That game is a win no one mentions it again. Then yesterday we dominated Bournemouth but couldn't break them down, win that and everyone would be clamouring for Howe to get Manager of the month.
I agree. Last year however was a **** show, the previous seasons there wasn't the same issue with player fitness and they were still well drilled, also we did a bit of a great escape after the Covid lockdown and then a year was played behind closed doors without fan pressure. last year when the fitness issues were there and blatantly obvious the gaffa ****ed off for a jolly in Portugal. If this happened with Howe currently then I'd be wanting him ****ed off too.
I agree with this almost entirely, but love is blind and right now you're trying tell some fans that have become infatuated with Howe some home truths . If you were on here 12 months ago the very same fans were telling me Bruce has had 100 million and newcastle should be top half Why the contrast ? Love and hate.... they're making their opinions based on emotions and then looking for evidence to support it.
You'll always find that people that come across as decent human beings will be given more time and will be defended more for example Howe. Bruce on the other hand comes across as an absolute thundercunt, a perfect example of someone completely uncommitted to any club and lacking in any honesty and integrity and therefore quicker to have people pile on where Howe will be given more time.
I wasn’t impressed by our efforts against wolves or Brighton either, where we were mostly second best. For the two games we might’ve won at home there’s 3 (adding City) we could just as easily have lost. Bottom line is that it hasn’t been a great start to the season. We’re currently averaging 1.15 points per game, puts us on 43 (15th) for the season. That’s worse than Bruce or Rafa. With new owners and £200m spent. Bournemouth was a very poor game and fans have a right to be concerned or pissed off about it. Formation is confused and there no guile. For whatever reason, even though we’ve had no guile for years and years, Howe and/or the owners chose not to address it. We are now seeing the results of that short sightedness.
