Upset cricket fans Can't imagine the old bill being so lenient with football fans causing trouble for days on end
As the tweet from Nick Timothy suggests, it depends on the content of the reports, and whether they have been sanatized.
If you scroll to the bottom of the story you will see that the BBC has been reporting on this unrest since 31 August.
The point Timothy was making was that the BBC was putting out reports but not telling the whole story. In recent days, the BBC has been reporting on events other than the death of the Queen, yet no video appears to have been shown of the intensity or scale of the problem. Other channels have been as bad imo. If this had been football hooligans of two clubs facing off for weeks, it would have been nightly news. Yet this has the potential to be far more serious.
Possibly, but what you said was that the BBC wasn’t reporting it until today. That’s what I was commenting on, not what Theresa May’s ex advisor thinks. What does GB News have to say on the matter?
Ah, you're attacking the messenger, presumably because he worked for a Tory prime minister. Apparently, the BBC has done their first tv piece on this today at 9.00am. It's been a long time coming. No idea about GBN. I've been watching Sky's coverage of the monarchy stuff, and they've been struck dumb too.
Yes, he showed both in the way he chose to respond to Tice’s polite and public greeting. Do you think that was acceptable or do you believe there might have been a better way?
I don’t listen to LBC but have seen many examples of his interviewing style and he can impressively take apart many that he interviews. So why act like that in public, or is alcohol both an issue and an excuse for him?
No I wasn’t attacking him, he’s of no interest to me. I was pointing out that you made a mistaken claim about the BBC reporting (timeliness not content). What do you think the news programmes should be doing? I’d be interested to hear from participants in the unrest, I’m sure there’s more to it than a cricket match. Hindu/Muslim tension is hardly new, but I can’t remember other examples of it in this country. Highly biased online Muslim sources claim that anti Islamic activities have been on the rise as British Hindus adopt the BJP ideology. Equally biased Indian news feeds claim that there was an anti Hindu rampage after India won a T20 game on 28 August. Might be more Pakistan/India rivalry than purely religious….or sporting. There is too much instant opinion and false interpretation out there to reach a reasoned conclusion, perhaps the mainstream media are right in not leaping to conclusions and fanning the flames by apportioning blame. Root cause is, probably, the same as usual - lies and ignorance.
He doesn't take them apart. He uses Gotcha techniques to ambush his interviewees. It's a crude point-scoring exercise and doesn't get anyone anywhere.
