she’s fine now push , thanks for asking Thanks for the date reminder , horrid crash . You can see his feet !
So sorry,Kubica`s massive crash was 2007,his one and only win was the following year. That takes some nerve to go back to the track where you could have died and to win.I seem to remember it was one of those crazy races that make F1 so exciting now and again.Kimi was waiting at the end of the pit lane for the red light to change to green and Lewis came up behind and rammed hm,putting both of them out. Glad to hear that the wife is feeling better.
Porsche. Porsche call off Formula 1 collaboration with Red Bull after talks breakdown please log in to view this image By Andrew BensonChief F1 writer Last updated on 1 minute ago1 minute ago. From the section Formula 1 please log in to view this image Porsche has called off its planned Formula 1 collaboration with Red Bull. The German car company had been planning to enter F1 in 2026 as engine partner to Red Bull but talks have stalled after an agreement could not be reached. A Porsche statement said: "The premise was always that a partnership would be based on an equal footing." It said this would "include not only an engine partnership but also the team. This could not be achieved". Porsche had wanted to gain a shareholding in Red Bull and have influence in team operations, while Red Bull wanted to keep independence. The two positions could not be reconciled. However, Porsche said it was still interested in entering F1 as a result of the new engine regulations that will come into force in 2026. These increase the proportion of power provided by the hybrid part of the engines and introduce fully-sustainable synthetic fuels. Porsche is pushing synthetic fuels, which burn only the carbon taken out of the atmosphere in their manufacture, as one of the solutions to the climate crisis across the automotive industry. The statement added: "With the finalised rule changes, the racing series nevertheless remains an attractive environment for Porsche, which will continue to be monitored." Audi, a sister brand of Porsche in the Volkswagen Group, announced last month that it was entering F1 in 2026. It has so far only said it will be a power-unit manufacturer, but it is expected to take over the Sauber team and become an entrant. Red Bull team principal Christian Horner said at the Belgian Grand Prix last month that the company was not prepared to cede control of its F1 operations. Red Bull currently uses a Honda engine with technical support from the Japanese manufacturer, which officially pulled out of F1 at the end of 2021. The team are setting up their own engine department which is designing and building a power-unit for the new rules.
I have no insight, but why is it that Porsche-Audi isn’t the obvious answer following a Sauber purchase?
not now they don't, but they're looking at 2026, that's 3 1/2 years away, and the regs have only been released 3 weeks ago. Porsche are part of the VW group, they have plenty of money.
RB spent a year building a factory and everyone already has a running prototype. I assume Volkswagen don’t just have the required facilities lying idle. Dynos that run at 15000rpm aren’t needed for road car development for a start.
You are right but VW will have engine test facilities so will have all the ancillary services from fuel farms, cooling systems, test cells and all the other infrastructure that Red Bull didn't. They will also have expertise in other motor sport for engines etc. I would say that IF they want to go it alone they could do it in 3.5 years as it's not as big a development as the current PU's due to not having the MGU-K on the new PU's. One thing that might delay them is, as you say, the dyno, it's not just a 15000rpm issue it's dynamic speed changes and massive torque. I guess there won't be any of those sitting on a shelf. If I remember correctly Bugatti had some very high speed high torque dynos and they are part of VW so maybe??? It will be interested to see if Porsche do actually make any announcements on joining F1.
If they can't actually build their own pu and the only plan was to buy and rebadge an existing frontrunner, then I'm plenty happy for Porsche to stay away. Audis plans actually add value to the sport beyond the brand.
Never realised I could be interested in the various indicator lights that are on the cars. (And impressed that they considered that a mechanic/marshal might be colour-blind). And when a marshal is running to a crashed car, he/she even has to look to see whether an LED is flashing fast or slow. F1 car lights explained (with Albert Fabrega)...
Red Bull have stopped their interest in Herta and looking to sign de vries. This says to me that Gasly is moving to alpine while Ricciardo is going to Mercedes as reserve trying to sneak Hamiltons seat in 2024
Herta should just say eff it. He's got a career for life in Indy. They're determined to halt him, just like they were determined to stop Andretti starting a team. Both moves are nuts. Stay in Indy where he stands a chance at winning on any given weekend rather than farting around in a midfield or lower team.
Im probably wrong , but isn’t De Vries Mercedes man ? Therefore Williams ? I am probably wrong but if Gasley goes to alpine and de vries to Alpha Tauri . There is still Latifi seat at Williams and possibly MS seat at Hass . So it’s not yet over for Danni Ric .If he thinks by going to Mercedes as reserve driver and getting a shout for Hamilton drive , I think he has nearly zero chance .
Cannot blame Danny Ricc for saying no thanks to Haas. Alpha Tauri are rumoured to be a target for a full Honda buyout as a works outfit, and who knows what Williams May end up doing under Doriltons financial clout. They may not be the undesirable options they may appear on paper.
Seems totally mad for F1 to make a big push to build a US audience, then treat Andretti and Herta like this. I know some of that is the FIA, but I can't believe it wouldn't happen if F1 really wanted it. I still think the real reason for putting so many obstacles in front of Herta is that the FIA don't want to legitimise the "Road to Indy" as an alternative "Road to F1". If young drivers can race in Indy Lights rather than F3, at a fraction of the price, then graduate to Indycar and readily obtain enough superlicense points, then who in their right mind goes to F3 or F2? Not to mention the security of knowing that you can race Indycar for a 15 year career and have a good life, rather risk committing the cardinal sin of winning F2 in the "wrong" season and having your motorsport career ruined by a ladder that insists you move up, but doesn't guarantee anywhere for you to go.
Another thing I don’t get is why the powers that be think they can make a success of F1 this time ? I know the Americans love F1 , but 3 races ! And drive to survive won’t do it long term .
