I feel bad for Shota. Never really cut out for the job. Bit like Slutsky under the Allams. It’s not all his fault. I’m not sure how much influence he had on transfers. Everything I’ve heard suggests Acun and Kesler were leading recruitment and Kesler’s comment about not having the patience to build a squad gradually speaks volumes. This squad reflects that as there’s zero cohesion between the squad and some just look like they’re here to collect wages and nowt more. It looks like a squad assembled by people playing FIFA or Football Manager rather than one assembled by a manager who knows what he wants and needs.
Absolutely, I remember us giving Paul McShane the backhand, went off to Barnsley and we thought we'd never see him again. He came back under Bruce looking far more solid and made a fair few appearances in the Premier League for us in those two seasons.
Not a case of they knew who the manager was, it's a case of they are here and now working with the manager and it seems to me they do not play like they want to be coached by him.
Cooper's drive into the area ended when he stumbled over. With that Swansea's moment should have passed, but Tobias Figueirido tried to clear as Baxter came out in an attempt to gather. The duo collided and ended up in a heap, leaving 20-year-old Cundle - making just his second appearance since joining on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers - to roll the ball into an empty net. It was Cundle's first senior goal. It will surely be a while before he scores a simpler one. ...............,, Sigh
1. Figueiredo was beyond awful today, Piroe must have thought it was Xmas. He can't pass and he can't defend, are we just keeping him in in case an advertising hoarding starts upfront for the opposition? 2. The contrast between how comfortable in possession Swansea's defenders were, and ours, was stark. It's a huge problem and no easy solution. 3. We can't play Seri and Tufan, we just can't carry two static midfielders however good on the ball they are. That said, on today's performance you could make a for replacing them both, hard to see Woods and Pelkas in those positions putting in less effort. 4. I wouldn't write off Vale on that performance, it's a big step up into the speed and physicality of this division, plus playing alongside players who are much worse at keeping the ball than he's used to. Now is probably not the time for him to be starting though, bring him on later on when the game slows down and opens up more. 5. I hate the idea of sacking managers early in the season, but there really is no sign of improvement in performance, effort or attitude.
Tobias is alot better than he is showing at the moment don't write this guy off he will come good for us soon.
Is it just me? My mentality, 80 mins in, 2 nil down, “right, lets get a quick goal, put the willies up Swansea, and make an interesting 15 mins of it. Shota give us something.” He takes our main/only threat remaining on pitch, Oscar off, replaces with a defender, Christie, to do what, preserve our goal difference? Lost for words really, embarrassing, abysmal - and that goes for his post match comments to Sky. What a horror **** show Really, really feel for the travelling support, bad enough when you lose, but after a very early start, a long miserable journey back home. Safe journey home to all.
One thing has to be said.... where the **** are the Hull born captain and vice captain.... if Jones was left out of the squad because he spoke his mind good on him... I'll give him my MOM award today... THEY should be remonstrating with those around them, not skulking away doing impressions of 'it wasn't me guv'...
Don't know whether to feel sorry for Acun or just remain baffled as to why a seasoned business guy would chose a friend to run his very expensive football team.
He’s not a youngster. He was brought in to add experience to the defence and he’s ****ing gash. Give him time to what? Get us relegated and show us how good he is in League 1?
I really can't see us picking up any points based on the last two performances. The players just don't seem bothered or interested
Even if Shota goes, the new manager would have a task on his hands. Not even Pep or Klopp could make our soft-as-**** midfield any stronger or Figueiredo any less ****.
What's the reason he's looking so dogger right now? He needs to be benched and the next man in line gets his chance. He can then fight to prove he's worth another chance. Don't like to get on the back of players but I feel like must have been better experienced centre back options. Not one to look back but James Chester was available.
I am really lost for words by the 2nd half performance, I need to reflect. All I will say is Mr Kirkland who was my PE teacher at Anlaby Primary school told me when I was 9 YO never passed the ball across your own goal in defence. What did Figgy do!
