Oh well. Off work till Tuesday. Will wake up tomorrow feeling bright, but with the faint suspicion that something is wrong; remember that Saints have gone back to being ****, decide not to let it ruin my weekend. Weekend somewhat diminished nonetheless. Meh.
There’s obviously an issue between Ralph and Stuie. He’s our most creative player for ****s sake. I can’t get my head around it.
Big game in 2 weeks time at home to Everton. Everton have an appalling record at St Mary's so no reason not to go for it.
He’s just absolutely lost as a defensive midfielder. Obviously has some great attributes but he’s actually quite limited.
Giving a more serious response. I have never been conclusively Ralph out, but he would not have survived this extremely long and sustained poor run of form at any other Premier League club. I also think Saints fans have been far far far more patient with him than basically any other set of fans would have been. He has been working with a threadbare budget for nearly all of his Saints career and I think that is factored in, but lets not pretend he has done a good job by any means over the last year. 5 Points from FOURTEEN games prior to Leeds (nearly Derby 07/08 form), ok there has been a slight upturn since but its not been enough to totally heal opinions from that unmitigated disaster of a run, especially when we revert to type after the brief upturn, we rightfully expect much better. He has more to do to get the fans back on side.
The referee didn't help. He was appalling, constantly stopping the game every 10 seconds. Went a long way from stopping the game from ever being able to flow. But don't let that excuse how bad both sides were, especially us. We deserved to lose 3-0 or 4-0 on that performance, no question.
