…. Lovely play from Archie in the build up to the goal at tranmere last night. schoolboy defending (by the schoolboys to be fair) for the 4 tranmere scored in return
But it’s that distribution of money that keeps the league mostly competitive, watchable and the money rolling in.
I'd like to see a "balance payment" introduced where the poorer clubs are given more than the rich clubs to "balance" the league. For example Man City were given 40 million more than us in total. That's basically the fee for our best player Phillips. That 'weakened' us and 'strengthened' them making it alot harder to bridge that gap. If it was us getting 40 million more than City that money could be invested in infrastructure or help keep our best players and close the gap or at least maintain it. BTW I'd still want this if we were in City's position. I want a fair league.
They also made a profit on transfer dealings, one of only 3 clubs. We only spent a million so were another £34m behind them which means £74m behind them. But they have an academy turning out top kids and big profits made. Trying the level playing field approach is a great idea but down the pyramid in the Championship its been even worse for years due to parachute payments. There are now many more clubs in the Champs that have had parachute cash and been in the Premier League. Its amazing and the main reason why we spent 17 years outside the top flight
Didn’t realise there were so many socialists that believe in the fair distribution wealth amongst clubs on this forum
