Of our lot I always had a soft spot for Tony Norman. Canny keeper and bloke.

 

Norman had a hell of a game in the FA Cup in '92 away at West Ham. Pulled off some class saves, kept us in it when it got back to 2 - 2.

 

Tony Norman signed my cast when I broke my leg!! Lovely fella. Lived near my grandma

 

also v City and Luton he made incredible saves that made the final possible

 

Was that Newton Hall. I remember a quiz night at the Happy Wanderer we won the grand sum of £3 each and went next door to splurge it, plus a bit more, on an indian takeaway and Tony Norman was in getting his supper.

 

No Belmont. He lived in one of the bigger houses on the estate. Kids went to St Thomas More school

You mean St. Leonard's in Durham. I was in the same tutor group as his son.

No junior school. Definitely went to St Thomas More in Belmont. Leonard’s senior school. Kids were a bit younger than me (I was 14 at the time which was 1989/90)

 

Oh sorry mate, didn't realise that's what the junior school in Belmont was called. He was def from Belmont when he started, then moved to Bishop Middleham. Went to his house there a couple of times. Really nice family.

 

Yeah it’s the Catholic school in Belmont. You’re right, lovely family. I literally knocked on his car window and asked him to sign my pot one evening!!!

I don't mate, my only two visits to BM was to go to his house. We just went to the same school, I lived in Chester-le-street at the time.

 

I too saw him in 1966. He really was something.

David Seaman. Original "Keeper Sweeper". People remember him getting done against Brazil but that wasn't too far from the end of his playing days. The man was a beast throughout the 90s. Won the double and was one of the first Keeprs to play the sweeper role at Arsenal. May bit a little of nostalgia swaying me towards him but in my opinion, up until Pickford, England struggled for 13 years to replace him. People talk about England's golden generation that never won nothing and can never work out why, because the keepers were all **** around that time. Apart from Joe Hart that was winning things with City, they were always mid or slightly above table plodders. While Seaman was at Arsenal, he was always at the top.
