Figs is more proven over time than McLoughlin. Smith is the 2nd of 2 strikers fit. Wondered if he'd use Pelkas behind Oscar instead of. 2 up top, but Pelkas hasn't played for months so is in a virtual pre-season still. Don't want him breaking down cos he's not fit enough.
Only thing I'd say was questionable would be starting Smith. Unlike some I wouldn't be starting the Chelsea kids based purely on reputation in the academy leagues.
Anyone think that Shota is not in full command of team selection - is he intimidated? McLoughlin should start - when he makes a couple of mistakes, let Figs come back in - it doesn't seem to matter how bad Figs plays or mistakes he makes, he is on the first eleven every next time - there must be no heat applied to say, look you are making too many errors - you place is forfeited, fight back for it.
Maybe thinks its a bit early to be doing that. Surely if it continues then you'd question his place. Let's see how he plays.
Not sure what anyone wants from a line up with what we have available. Just go with it and see what happens.
But McLoughlin is error prone too. What I don't like is when Figs gets time and space on the ball, it just doesn't suit him. Although that shouldn't be happening with Seri on the pitch
Pelkas has to start doesnt matter if he walks half the game 5 in the back seems a bad selection again… i dont mind smith he played well our first game this season but everything else is bad
You would have at least Vale on the bench as an attacking option. I think Smith is lucky to make the squad, even with only 2 strikers fit
