Not sure if confirmed, someone who would probably know sent me on WhatsApp. Makes sense with the policing requirements for a funeral and the games

I guess it depends if they have to bring extra police in from all round the country, and how many. If all events in London are cancelled youd think not too many more would be needed

It seems obvious to me they've called the games off which require the most police presence. Although Brighton v Palace had already been called off due to the now cancelled train strikes. Easier to keep that game postponed than call off another. Man United v Leeds, although a couple of hundred miles away from London, is a match between 2 clubs with a rather feisty rivalry. Whereas Brentford v Arsenal, while in London, is being played at a small ground with no tension between the clubs.

Seems pretty logical given the situation.

Although without wishing to mention politics in a football thread, it’s a pretty damning indictment of how the country is being run. Not good that we don’t have enough police to host football matches

The events in Scotland and London are taking a lot of police away from their normal areas/duties though. I mean, they reckon 750,000 people are going to queue to pay their respects to the late Queen when she's lying in state at Westminster. That's a LOT of people over 4 days. Then you've got the funeral itself. There's probably going to over a million extra people in London over those 5 days in total. I think they've made the right calls to get as many games on as they possibly can (and I think they've done well to get 7 games on).

Not to mention all the heads of state coming for the funeral including Biden. London's going to be crawling with police, as you say, drafted in from all over.

Apparently it will represent the largest security operation ever held in this country.

That wouldn't surprise me. I think you have to say fair play for keeping the postponements down to 3 games.

Looks like Brighton are going to appoint Franck Haise from Lens.

Given some of the people the fans on their forum thought they could go for this is (on paper) a bit of a come down. My favourites (in the terms of the comedy value from Brighton fan delusion) were Poch and the Sporting Lisbon guy who has already been earmarked as the eventual next Chelsea manager.

I say this not knowing anything about him. Wiki suggests he uses a formation close to what they use which I imagine is a big part

Poch was never going to Brighton, even if they wanted him.

You know that and I know that. And most people know that. Didn’t seem to stop some on their forum wondering about it. Others talking about how they could pay the sporting manager’s 30m release clause (that he apparently has)

Perhaps all forums of other teams read like absolute comedy gold when read by outsiders (and maybe ours do) but the Brighton one has really taken the cake in the last week or so.

Oh sorry, I misread your post. I thought you were saying he was your favourite for the job. Know what you meant now.
