He will return to light training in a week or two. According to his twitter, he had a very positive meeting with the doc today.

    Cracking news!!!

Great news. I see they's been 3 players in La Liga (2 in the same game!) falling to the same injury.

Thankfully I'm coming to the end of my rehab for a knee re-construction but I wouldn't wish this injury on my worst enemy.

I just hope he's not rushed back, perhaps not even until next season. He's in a similar to position now to Meyler, if tears the new ligament again he might not be able to carry on playing.

    Best of luck Frazier.

This is great news. I still think we will be lucky to see him back in the first team this season mind but it must be a huge lift for him to resume training with the lads.

Great news, as others have said he will need to take it easy, I can see him getting some game time right at the end of the season. That would be perfect for us because if he looks good in the last month Bruce will know if he needs to splash out on a striker in the Summer, that is assuming we tie up Bendtner and sign someone else in Jan.

The lad must be worried sick n'all.

Will I come back? Will I have me pace?

Lets hope that - for a human being, let alone an SAFC lad, all works out ok. Dont rush him, and if he comes back 100% fit, what a lovely headache we will have.

After not just one but 2 serious injuries I would let him train till pre season. Another bad set back and that could be it for the lad.

Steve Bruce has hailed Fraizer Campbell's mental strength after revealing the striker could return from injury three months earlier than scheduled.

The Black Cats front-man sustained a second cruciate ligament injury in April and was initially set to miss most of this season while he recovered.

But the Stadium of Light boss has admitted Campbell is poised to make his comeback within the next five weeks, highlighting the striker's determination and dedication to return to fitness as 'quite remarkable'.

"Fraizer is just remarkable," Bruce told the Daily Mirror.

    Brand new
"We hope that by Christmas he can be involved in the first team again. It's a quite remarkable achievement.

"It's testament to all the hard work he's done. If you'd seen the running he's doing, you'd just say 'Wow'.

"He's had two cruciate injuries, but he looks brand new and full of life. There's no sign of any limp or any deficiency.

"Mentally, he's had to be really strong. At the time of his injury, he'd had a wonderful pre-season and scored four against Hull.

"He was the main striker, playing as well as anybody here, and he's been a miss

This is excellent news for Fraizer but I hope it doesn't mean he will be rushed back and, even worse, used as a reason by Bruce not to buy a striker in January.

I dont think he will be rushed back, I guess Bruce will do the same as he did with Meyler -use reserve team to see how his knee reacts and slowly build him up.

As for not buying another striker: I hope the following happens

Bruce buys Bendtner and get another striker on loan. I hate when the club buys players in January, and they tend to have inflated prices. However, Wenger wont inflate Bendtner's price as we have him on loan already. Getting another lad on loan will tide us over till the summer, when can then get some players at "normal" prices.

The other advantage of having Campbell back, is that other clubs wont be able to hold the club to ransom as much if we do go for another striker - as they wont see us as being desperate anymore.

At the risk of being shot down in flames, I think everyone is getting a little carried away.

I'm as happy as the next bloke to see him on the road to recovery, and over the moon that he potentially still has a career in football, but I'm not sure he is going to be good enough as a first choice premier league striker.

Just too lightweight for my liking
