It clearly is a dig at BLM like. I don’t think the queen is more important than tackling racism and i doubt she would either and I personally wouldn’t kneel before any human with status, especially a hereditary monarch. I also don’t think we should go cancelling everything. State funeral fair enough but im against the coronation of Charles. I think it’s time we should be able to opt out of contributing tax to the monarchy if we choose to. Respect to the woman that was the queen and the family members and friends who grieve at this time and it appears some members of the public who she touched, I can see you’re one of them which is fine of course but for me not the institution who **** and piss just like us. I don’t want to pay for the coronation of someone/thing I don’t want so let those who do pay for it all. I think that’s fair enough.

 

I think the whole thing you just said is a bizarre concept personally. It’s archaic and irrelevant to me. As I say they **** piss and of course die like us all. We all serve the nation in our own ways. I’m of the opinion it’s sad for the family but a hugely bizarre overreaction for many others. People going on like they were her best mate, ma’am and all this reverent stuff isn’t for me that’s my choice but for those who want to do it crack on, just don’t force me to join in or pay for it.

So I moved the post from the Queen thread to the one about this issue. Here’s another thing, why don’t you **** off to the board that’s full of your genocide loving friends.

I have to say that I feel that it is possible to read the alternative meaning that has been suggested into the image that Chunk posted. But, and this is the important part, Chunk posted it at face value and with the best of intentions.

Kneeling is a symbolic act. Having spent all my adult life studying past societies, I am acutely aware of the importance of symbols and symbolic acts in human interaction. Symbols have different meanings to different groups (let's not forget that the swastika had a very different meaning in Hinduism before it was hijacked by the Nazis) and this can lead to confusions and misunderstanding between groups who use the same symbol in different ways.

We should all know that kneeling is an act of respect but also, in a slightly different context, an act of solidarity with Colin Kaepernick's stand (kneel) against institutional racism.

 

I’ll go when someone of relevance asks, or bans me from posting on here. Not because or the ramblings of a demented no mark like yourself.

 

I was having a go at chunk btw just saying that I do think the two things were connected in the image. Kneeling to the monarch or even a religious person is deference to status but as I don’t recognise either I wouldn’t do it. Nor would I accept a knighthood. Not that I’d get one

 

I don’t give a **** what a no mark like you thinks to be honest. I give as much a **** about you as I do about the coronation.
