Having a head of state that has been trained for the position since birth and remaining as head of state for many years with no political bias gives great stability and avoids the corruption that exists with other forms of government.

 

Lol, keep the Monarchy coz it's easier.

They are largely a symbolic institution these days (albeit one that costs a ****ing fortune to maintain)

Personally I think it's important for the people of a country to decide who their head of state is, some are happy to have it foisted upon them.

 

Again, not to come across all monarchistic. but how has that worked out for our trans atlantic cousins of late?
Their last two heads of state have been a narcissistic pussy grabber and a senile old racist.

Why should people not aim for an easier option when the more difficult one makes again, no meaningful impact on anyone's life?

Ok, she's dead and we have President John Smith, he is an artist who everyone respects. Like the one they have in Ireland. We now have to deal with changing every single institution at home and lots abroad, but at least we got to vote for John Smith, who is a swell guy.

Or would we go for a system like France? Which is in all practical terms, identical.

I'd rather we not all focus on utter bollocks tbh, like we always seem to in Britain.

Anyway, the basic principle of having an elected head of state is key for me, not somebody who happens to be there because they've been enabled through wealth and privilege
