I think both Son and Kane are off form. The difference for me is that Son is trying too hard (which is often what happens when you are trying to regain form) He just needs to relax and trust his skills. Kane on the other hand looks below par, his first touch has been poor for at least the last 3 games but masked by scoring a couple of goals. Remembering how amazing they both were at the Emirates City last season lets hope muscle memory kicks in on Saturday.
I don't go to many games and was really doubting my choice to go to this one until the goal. I was having flashbacks to the Leverkusen game at Wembley when they got an early-ish goal and then spent the rest of the game time wasting. It's not a cheap night out and rather ruined if there is persistent time wasting. I actually don't blame the opposition, I blame the ref for letting them get away with it. And although it didn't matter, the four minutes added on was pathetic considering how much time was lost. Also there was only one minute added on in the first half, not that there was anything in the first half that made you want to watch more, but it was still wrong. Just the one incident with the mysterious keeper injury added far more than that on it's own.
Stingy to Marseille, barring Mbemba's rating. Not sure how they gave their wingbacks the same score as him, for a start.
Perisic makes a good point about our squad turnover leading to some flat performances. As PowerSpurs illustrated the other day, we've signed a whole new team under Conte. They may not play every minute of every game, but it's hard to flawlessly integrate that many players.
I've sat about 7 or 8 rows forward of that to watch a game. The view is fine but it's a long bloody way up there...and makes a pint and piss at half time a bit too much of an ordeal. The floodlit, European atmosphere was definitely in full effect last night, which was really great...and very addictive. Their fans made a lot of noise and we beat them, which is always enjoyable. I wondered if I was done with going to the match...it seems not. I loved seeing Richarlison play and score his 2 goals. He's exactly what we needed. He can come short and hold the ball up really well. He's got good awareness of what's going on around him and can play lay offs and cute short passes. He's very athletic and strong, great in the air and he works his nuts off. I'd love to see him as the spearhead of a 4-3-3 )Son and Kulusevski on either side), with Harry Kane as a no. 10. Until now, my favourite players have been players like Stevie P, Robbo, Super Jan, Bentancur. Not many forwards...until now?
Despite not playing well, Son effectively won us the game by forcing the red card. If he hadn't been fouled and he then went on to score that might have been better for him and the team in the long run. If he hadn't been fouled and then missed I doubt we would have won.
Couple of pics from where we were sat last night. Amazing seats and got to see Antonio doing his nut in close-up on more than one occasion. Atmosphere was fantastic and I just loved the pantomime directed at Guendouzi and, after it became clear that he was doing everything in his power to help Marseille after they went down to 10 men, the referee.
Odd, I don't see anyone whose been having their knob gobbled in SofaScore's TOTW... please log in to view this image
For me the biggest plus of this game was that Richarlison managed to last a whole match WITHOUT trying to wind up opponents, WITHOUT lying down and writhing in agony every time an opponent looked at him, and WITHOUT spending every available minute whinging to the ref. Those were the characteristics which meant that I did not welcome his transfer. He's always been a skilful footballer, but his ****housery has put me off. If he's really turned over a new leaf, and works as hard and unselfishly as he did last night, and adds a few goals to that, then I'll change my mind.
I suspect that as the weeks go on, he'll realise that being in this Spurs team is as much on-pitch advantage as he'll need come KO time.
****house team, ****house fans. I noticed a couple of people getting the boot just next to where RCL said he was. Not sure if they were Marseille fans, but it would make sense.
As we were leaving you could see them kicking off against stewards and the old bill...**** knows how uefa get to charge us ffs.
