Not hindsight but circumstances pathed the way towards his appointment. You should thank LJ for being part of getting your man here!! :emoticon-0103-cool:

Taken long enough though as ROD backed me up when i said he should have got the job ahead of LJ -proven manager that has won the championship title with experience.
imagine what he would have done with the funds LJ had.
On his signings so far i think he would have spent it better and i honestly believe we may even had been in the prem by now.
Not sure he could have worked with the clown Ashton he would have seen straight through him.

Oh my god, when will it sink in.... We never would have gotten Pearson to look twice at us after SC was saced. Under SC we were doing what BCFC have largely done our entire history, get relegated after getting promoted. The only reason he did now was because we were established in the Championship and NP knows that when finances are straightened out again, he has a chairman who will back him with cash. Do you think he would be here if he thought long-term that SL wouldn't back him financially once the COVID issues disappear? Of course he wouldn't!

As Supercon says......you are not getting the point whatsoever.........<doh>
ROD will backup the fact that he wouldn't have wanted the job when LJ took over and had LJ promoted us, we wouldn't have wanted him....Don't forget Leicester were in the sh!t and struggling when he was sacked..

For all of the grandeur, loyalty and the gush being dished out by the lovies, dear boys for LJ , he inherited a quality squad of players which helped him on his way, he spent more, he signed more, despite the huge return on the sale of the 4 or 5 players he was a partner of the losses and waste it helped to create the £38.4m debt and overspend problems with FFP, he agreed to highly paid wages and long term over paid contracts, his mild successes were 1 top 10 place in nearly 5 years, oh and a good cup run, they keep balling on about this elongated stay of 4.5 years he achieved mainly in the lower half of the Championship, I prefer to look through the right end of the scope, despite all the finance, record number of signings, all the faith, loyalty and support of the owner, he couldnt achieve giving us Premier status and kept us locked out through his failuer to achieve requied targets and SL fired him for failure, no disgrace but it didn't work.

That wasn't the point Wiz.....NP would not have looked at us in League one, which is where we were going AGAIN when LJ arrived and had LJ got us promoted to the prem, we wouldn't have been interested in him........

The job became available in 2020, the club was on it's knees, very little finance available, horrendous wage bill, out of contract players in their final months, results and morale falling through the floor, 2 managers sacked in a short period, short term contract offered and accepted, we all agree Nige was fully aware of all the concerns and walked in with his eyes open, whatever transpired in previous years was of no consequence, we were on our way down, it was a struggle but survived, that is the point for me.

I did say in a earlier post on here- ROD vouched for me and backed it up- i was asking for Nige before LJ got the job- however would he have been interested at the time i doubt it.
But good things come to those that wait.

I would say if change had not occured with LJ then DH getting the boot we would have been relegated-the club was in freefall.

SL could not let Bristol City go back to league one it would have been crippling financially for the whole project.

I agree with you, in fact SL approached Nige about the vacancy, it was an SL idea..
Bristol City owner Steve Lansdown reveals his reasons behind appointing Nigel Pearson as manager
The experienced former Leicester City, Watford and Southampton manager will be watching from the stands as Bristol City take on Middlesbrouygh

“Nigel was well up on our list of people we wanted to approach and we approached him, he was happy with it, we’re happy with it and we’ll take it to the end of the season and see how it goes.

“The way I would look at is, we’re both trying each other out in this period and then we’ll talk about things properly going forward in the summer.

Top manager i will let you into a little secret laugh if you wish but true.

I badgered SL and JL on twitter with direct messages and kept saying this is the man to sort the football club out long term-the rest was down to SL.

I hope it helped in getting Nige hear come the end.

I have to admit I was never a great fan of Pearson, I thought he was arrogant and a bit of a bully, he showed no respect for the press but bloody hell has he proved me wrong, he has and is doing a great job for us, in conjunttion with Gould he seems to be pulling all the right strings and there is no doubt we are heading in the right direction on all levels of our club, most important of all there is no longer a split in the fan base,we all stand together behind them.

    Good news.

We wouldn't have got relegated under LJ; nothing to suggest we were anywhere near close to it (unlike the last 2 seasons). Under DH, we were going down almost as certainly as we were under SC, so changes were needed and happened, justifibly.
I agree with the point that LJ didn't achieve the targets set bY SL, and he paid the price for it; I have never argued against that factually correct point. Just all the other bo!!ocks aimed towards him on here/

Pure speculation that he was top, what it says, it says well up, so fair to assess that as in the top 5.
