That's a problem, tbf - him and trent on the same flank, neither tracking back for different reasons.

I think we all know it was coming. Some sides sit deep and counter but the utd game was wake up call that they totally and utterly out ran us every postion.

Newcastle bought one guy nobody else wanted to.
touch and he ran vvd into ground.

This lot were not even that good. Their defenders were a bit **** and their keeper kicks half the stuff away to us
They just had.men who could run and they did run and press

Vvd again looked shot through. They were totally exposed by midfield and Joe gomez head went.

Seriously Bournemouth were diabolical and every corner was virtually a free header. They had one slow.donkey forward and he ran away from goals

This side has to play ajax and chelsea soon
They are going to get absolutely run out.

He tries but the lack of pace hinders that, lots of problems at the moment, hopefully we'll click and get on a run. Got to sort the press out though that's what's killing us.

VvD believes his own hype as does Arnold, one thinks he doesn't have to get his shorts dirty by tackling he just has to glare at attackers to win the ball, the other thinks he shouldn't have to defend at all because he can't be arsed.

Seriously though, you missed Henderson tonight, forget what stato Jimmy says the man is a very important player for you and puts in the yards and hard dirty work. He can play a bit too when he gets the chance.

It's not like I don't like the lad or don't want him to succeed. He's a boy being put through a.man sized suffering and really that can knock a kid.

This is full on crisis where.people need to man up.

As I said stick him central and high if you.like in 4231 but not as no 8 watching 2 men run past him and trent to the cbs.

    Kids need protection as well.

Vvd is shot mate. Its not being blaise. He was destroyed by mitrovic. Zero pace mitrovic. He was ripped to shreds by Newcastle.new lad. He was torn asunder by this lad for napoli.

There's a reason everyone pulls onto gomez side though. He's still bloody hard when he does jump with you etc.

Vvd ain't the fit player he was and he looks awkward not assured on the ground

    Simple as.

As for henderson... all well and good but he got out ran by a man with a pacemaker. His legs are shot as well. He's stalk round there tonight kicking lads but it might just make a 4-1 into a 2-1

However this should.have been 6 at ht... that's how actually poor we were and how napoli.missed stuff

Not much between Trent and Joe tonight.

Gomez made three absolutely shockingly bad errors, two led to goals.

Trent was walking about not giving a **** which is unacceptable and deserves consequences!

    Gomez lost his head.

    Treant was just not arsed.

At one point there he was stood no 9 centre half beside nunez while 4 napoli player broke onto 2 defenders.

He never ran his line and put zero effort into his position.

There should indeed be consequences but there won't be.

I don't want to defend him too much but once again he's a victim of the whole team ethos not working. When our system works we press hard win the ball high and nobody has time on the ball against us. This enables the full backs to stay high and that is what he is trying to do. Yes he could work harder when things are going wrong but he's torn between doing what he's supposed to which is stay high because we're about to win the ball again, the problem is we don't. Same with Vvd he stays high and let's the man run off him because he expects the midfield to press the ball and prevent the pass, but they don't. It's easy to pick on individuals but the issue is with the whole team not getting the system right and not pressing at the right time or dropping off and becoming compact at the right time.

I think Klopp wants him top wonder about the field with freedom but there is no way he'll accept zero work ethic. Guess we'll find out against Wolves.

Look that's probably fair enough in terms of system but I'd say trent gambles we will win the balm so he doesn't have to bother. His job is to get back in shape so when he isn't even arsed trying even that teeny bit then it's no use.

yes there's a major issue with half team doing one thing and 25% not doing anything and the other 25% not able to get near anyone to do the job

I have no issue with his positioning because I think it's a Klopp instruction. My issue is his work ethic.

Not running back after a half arsed challenge is unacceptable, he was literally within touching distance of the ball and just watched them run away and attack Gomez!

Yes like I said not defending him too much but I also think he's a victim of how bad we're playing as a whole, when playing well we want him high and creating.

Yes but if everyone adjusts and changes, TAA deeper VVD tracking his man then we never fix this imo. Sort the press and we sort the problem.

I get what you're saying but I'd still hammer him for the non-existent work ethic if we'd won 10-0

He tried to play football when he shouldn't have been. Virgil (in the days when he was immense) showed that you don't piss about when you're facing your own goal and a man trying to get in your pants. If you're under pressure, get rid.
For two of the goals at least Gomez had an easy lay-off yet tried something fancy and got caught out.

I think his head was gone as he couldn't even get himself in a decent position for rest of the half

Totally agree but I don't think we have the players anymore, we certainly don't have the fitness levels. I think that's why Klopp said "we need to re-invent ourselves"
