See, Brighton are now where we were under Poch/Koeman. They're getting a lot of media attention and it's causing the big clubs to sniff around them. Unfortunately for them, like us when we had Poch, Potter is going to want to step up at some point.

 

I don’t disagree. I wasn’t sure of their ages. I was just trying to think of their oldest players to see if the old squad comment makes sense. It doesn’t seem to really

 

Brighton are where we were under Poch. Leicester are where we were in the aftermath days. So Brighton need watch out! I think they will be ok though. For starters they actually agreed to sell Cucurella. If they had refused there they might have caused themselves a problem

 

It would. And would also be interesting to see who they got in to replace him.

 

He might well be the call. Boehly might have heard of him, and it seems he's playing Football Manager.

Hmm, I'm not so sure. Their squad really isnt that great, Potter is doing a fantastic job with that group.

The difference with us under Poch & Koeman is that we had top players, but sold the lot and eventually replaced them with crap

 

Aubameyang might well end up being an upmarket version of Carrillo. Signed specifically for one manager who is almost instantly sacked with no guarantee the new manager wants him

At least he has a track record to fall back on

A lot of Brighton fans seem to think Potter will stay away from Chelsea as they are trigger happy and want instant success.

Is this how naive we were back in the day?

 

I did comment the other day on how I don’t understand how they can make a formation with four central midfielders, March and Trossard as wing backs and welbeck as lone striker work. It is clearly coaching and it shouldn’t work on paper

Or are we just underrating some of their players?

 

They are saying “Chelsea don’t want a long term project”. But Chelsea are signing players to 6 year deals. I guess it is kind of different. But it is still longer than most players sign on for

I’m not sure how coaching is viewed in America. Whether they also get long deals or are more transient

 

I honestly don't think he'll go for Potter. He's a Yank, they like big, shiny things. He'll go for Zidane, who will be ****.

 

Chelsea is such a **** show of a club at the moment, it's fun to watch. I hear Mourinho is doing well at Roma, maybe they should bring him back again

 

I think the language barrier was a big thing for Zidane.

 

Maybe we will find out soon enough if Potter does leave.

Sky Sports have literally just read this forum haven't they?

 

Best ones I've seen on the Brghton forum is that Potter will stay because it is too long a commute from Brighton and that he has young kids so the media will be too much for him

Maybe we are just cynical and bitter after it happening so often to us... or maybe they are just as naive as we once were!

 

The Koeman one was bizarre apart from financially for him as we were better at the time. Much better. Unless there were clear signs of financial strain beneath the surface

And in the case of Chelsea and Brighton it is more than just a pay rise. A much higher profile club, better squad, champions league, chance to really try and prove himself. And Chelsea might well convince him they do have a project

Everyone is saying “same old” for Chelsea with regards to managerial sackings. But they have been poor this season and weren’t great the end of last. And he plays such a boring, defensive system that is only really excusable when you win (see: Mourinho)
