Think that what you'll find is that the announcement will go beyond what Labour & the Lib Dems have been proposing. One chance to change public opinion and it would be a real own goal not to take the opportunity.

Maybe we’re copying America who are $30trillion in debt, with no chance of ever paying it off, and just keep on getting more and more in debt. Doesn’t seem to bother them. Sounds like a plan
The only reason I noticed was our lot were getting all heated up about our debt being about 50% of GDP so I had a look at other countries, your debt is about 110% of GDP and the US 125% or thereabout. It got me then thinking though which countries are not in debt. It turns out perhaps Lichtenstein hasn't got a debt.
In this instance the energy crisis has arrived with impeccable timing. Thatcher needed the Falklands but now Truss has an almost unprecedented opportunity to turn a crisis into a political victory.
