That's it, we've missed the peak value for a number of players, we can move them on, but it wouldn't be for huge amount, unless one if the kids has a breakout season and someone wants to play silly money.
I dunno guys, not sure what the mad panic is. if we only buy anyone after we sell big then I'd like to know where diaz, nunez, jota, thiago, konate, tsimikas all turned up out of. Our next spend in 19/20 was designed to over come the additional spend we put with the Coutinho money.... vvd, salah, ox and robbo coudl be said to have been paid for by coutinho, however alilson, fabinho, keita and shaqiri turned up the following summer our next spend in 20/21 in covid was 70mil, last season its was 57mil odd. we've bought and then sould squad type players. I don't know why we suddenly need to sell a top player to "transition" IMo we need to up the hunger and fitness again. Alisson 29 kelleher 23 davies 19 Trent 23 Ramsay 18 Robbo 28 Tsimikas 26 Gomez 25 Matip 31 Konate 23 VVD 31 Fabinho 28 elliott 19 henderson 32 Milner 36 Thaigo 31 Keita 27 ox 29 Carvalho 20 Diaz 25 Jota 25 Salah 30 frimino 30 Nunez 23 I don't really see the need to go nuts here. I don't know why the side seem bereft of running but theres plenty of yuong players there and good range. Its clear the midfield is the issue for me in terms of age and running and a bit of urgency in passing needed from vvd in particular. Theres load of players there to put out a team for next 5 seasons, we need to just add quality again..... and have a tiny bit of patience with players and coach to improve. the title's gone it was gone after 3 games. ok, its done, now lets go again and try win the next comp and improve. If city and the other 4 sides let us near this title race they must be ****.
We've got money to buy and we will buy. It'll be one or two a window for the next year or two. We're just in transition. We won't win anything this year, maybe not next year either. It's unlikely we'll go a decade or more again, this is just a natural generational team change.
wouldn't go that far mate. we might or might not, i would not say we are anything like a MAN UTD team We've the forwards, we have the keeper, we have the defenders. we need to improve the midfield package and run more. Its that simple. We can in fact get a decent draw in the cups and get our team in motion and fit then anything is possible. we now have 9but are highly unlikley to use together) 2 very similar ball playing midfielders in artur and thaigo and niether will stand in the oppoentns line making ti easy to close space. This alone will improve what we are doing.
Do we? Of the forwards, Firmino still has ability but has lost pace. We can't count in him forever. Salah has declined too and can't be counted on long term. So we have Jota, who is good but not the quality of the "original three" at peak. And Darwin, who is still an unknown as to how good he'll be. Midfield. Elliott and Carvalho look good for the future. We all love Thiago and Fabs when fit but the rest are all on borrowed time. Defence and goalkeeper are probably good long term... But forwards and midfielders will require a lot of changes during the next few years and Klopp doesn't tend to make wholesale changes. It's one or two major players a window tops. We're going to have to have good transfer windows for a few years in a row to be a top team again. I have the faith in Klopp, but we've got a lot of holes to fill, this is more than just a missing jigsaw piece. We need two new first team forwards and three first team midfielders over the next two year. With our calculated and slow approach to team evolution, that's a much faster refresh rate than we normally take.
You've 3 forwards under 25 and are still complaining? And this lot have the absolute cheek to say I am negative? Give them a chance mate.
Lol. In January... no chance. Clubs don't sell that talent in January unless it's a small club or are bent over backwards.
Personally think some of our form is a hangover from last season and the fact a bunch of our squad are jaded by keep going close but coming short .
I bought a drink and a pack of Ibuprofen this morning from the chemist for $6.66. Combine that with this being page 4,444, something is going down tonight.
Doesn't take much to flush out the doomsters. A bad start to the season and suddenly we need half a team. I agree with what I think you said that it's more attitude than personnel. The team isn't all that different to the one that has only been denied consecutive titles by a bunch of state-sponsored cheats. Ok, Hendo and Milner are another year older, and the latter should only be used very sparingly now, but others who really have no such excuse are playing well below par. It's not Klopp's fault, but it is his responsibility. If he can get them firing again then who knows what can happen? Six points off the top isn't great, but we were a lot further back than that last January.
