You need a target man v martinez.

He's fouled.jesus about 20times today. He pushed him for a free then stamped on him in the 2nd minute and was unpunished by ref and still I think never saw a card.

No nunez v utd was one of the issues we had.

Utd have got physical for thug haag and its worked but refs don't seem to have cottoned on to the fouling yet.

Mind you that lad at spurs romero is as bad.

Lfc are really lacking that aspect. Can't run and can't fight either.

Well it was an interesting weekend of football.

    We learned

    a) Liverpool can't run/won't run and the stats back that up big time.
    b) Liverpool can't play at 12:30. 2 out of 6 games at 12:30 so far. two draws. Pity we also can't play at 8pm on a monday :)
    c) Its ok to call haaland names and that he's an ugly brute. Neville says so.
    d) city are a bit brittle at the back thus far.
    e) Arsenal are arsenal. Pretty but no spine. #confirmed
    f) ten haag has got a bit of fitness and grunt out of utd now. they suckered arsenal with rapid counters but also physically dominated them. highlights were the refwho lives 3 miles form manchester somehow missing martinez stamping on jesus foot after 2 mints, ruling out a goal on a very soft foul (after missing it) and generally allowing all sort sof pulling and dragging. The mctominay wrestling move i thought was quite a good suplex. he really ought to try out for the wwe.
    g)cheslea are ****ing awful
    h) rodgers is for the chop very soon.
    J) brighton will get to 40points quickly then stop playing.
    k) everton will be relegation candidates cos they can't score goals, i mean if you can't score off LFC you must be **** right?
    i) Tottenham are going to grind their way though this season.

The only thing they've been missing since Fergie left is discipline. There has been plenty of talent come and go through the United revolving doors... Plenty of £100mill notes printed and exchanged when the only real problem was no one wanted to tell the players to stop acting like divas. Plenty of decent players who went to United and became jokes because the atmosphere was all play and no work.

They've finally got a manager who is willing to tell them "no" and they're going to be more dangerous now.

nver saw such a fuss about a player socring a couple hat tricks v **** teams :)
They looked more willing to run but some ref is going to eventually show them a few cards cos it does look like a few are going to be living on the edge. Martinez looks a spicy enough character that will push his look and antony looked in and out but was more than willing to raise a boot as well. I'd much perfer having that issue than the couldn't give a stuff issue.

You are right that there plenty of decent players, what i commented a couple weeks back was at the start of ogs tenure the players looked a lot fitter and eager for running and they finished second. Ten haag has picked his cbs, his fullback and his forwards no matter who else is about and looks to be doing the same for midfield now so the ronaldos and maguires and shaws are out.

Haaland is a funny one. No questioning the guy is a machine and scored goals for fun. But think it’s 6/9 goals have been inside 6 yard box now? All of which are essentially tap ins.

now Im not saying that’s bad, it’s essentially what city have missed but other than his 1 goal against i think was wolves where he ran onto through ball and held off the defender, he hasn’t really shown that he’s an athletic running CF. I guess teams don’t play high v city so makes it harder.

Does show the difference in perception where he is applauded for having 8 touches in a game compared to Lukaku who was lambasted for it, all because Haaland got 2 tap ins from de bruyne/foden/silva supplying him with tap ins.

I’ve yet to see him offer much else in terms of build up play etc. I guess the arguement is when you have de bruyne silva foden mahrez Grealish Cancello creating chances, you don’t need another player to drop in and get involved. Let them do the hard work and stand in the box and stick it in the net and get 30 goals a season. Simple stuff

He will break Salah's record with ease imo. I agree I'm not sure he's what City needed, but any top goal scorer will score a load there. Bet Kane is gutted he never got his move.

Career competetive goals (league, cups and European only no international)

    Matches: 87; Goals: 145

Not bad for someone who stands in the area for tap ins <laugh>

Oh, and the lad is fast as **** when chasing a through ball he rarely gets beat.
I have worries that his size may shorten his time at the top because all that pace and power will put incredible strain on his joints. Still a good few years before that will kick in though.

erm not sure those stats are accurate <laugh>

He played 89 games for Dortmund alone, and ‘only’ scored 86 goals.

20 goals in 50 games at molde

    29 in 27 at salzburg

    0 in 16 at Bryne

    10 in 7 at city

like I said, the guy is quality. And I’m not debating that. If he stays in the prem long enough he’ll beat all manner of records.

Just atm, the guy stands in the box and taps the ball into the net. Makes it look proper easy though but at the moment, his all round game isn’t really there yet. Now might be cos of the style of play, think Dortmund were more counter attack so left space for him to run into that doesn’t get at city. But can’t argue the guy scores goals and like I say, when you’ve got 5/6 creative players in the team, you don’t need another one, you need someone to stick the ball in the net to finish off those chances.

shows the same stats as you but a lot more games.

    https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/erl...&wettbewerb=&pos=&minute=&pos=&torart=&stand=

Tap ins will be his bread and butter at City because most opposing teams will spend the game in and around their own area.
His real value outside the area is more likely to be seen in the CL.

Just doesn't seem like a Pep striker.

    Kane does.

Weird to go from one to the other.

I’ve no idea where you’re getting that stat from still? I used the same website, the page you’ve pasted shows 164 games. 141 goals.

a long way from 84 games and a 145 goals… you’re stat is almost 2 goals every game over his whole career?!
