But here's the point, despite their values if and its abig if we had taken our chances we'd still be in this game
They've made a decent go of it, but they haven't got any real quality, they can't sustain it. We'll make progress from last season, but this is a project, it's not an assignment due at the end of the season.
Or, be realistic about our teams chances against other teams with far more money to play with than we do. Sheffield United didn't even have to get out of second gear today, we could barely get near them.
. Yeah and that might be his aim, I doubt there's anybody who would say top six would be a disappointment, but given what we're up against and amid the hype of a mental transfer window, I think a few seem to be forgetting just how good some of the teams in this division actually are.
It'd be nice though if we hadn't gone from a top half defence last season to conceding an average of 2 goals a game. On top of that, we have (not including Tyler Smith, who was supposedly off to Barnsley) one fit striker. Awful recruitment and seemingly an inability to coach the team how to play against a team who press us high which is becoming a worrying trend.
Because they've got a squad of League One standard players, like we did last season. Unfortunately, this isn't Roy of the Rovers, they'll fall away and end up near the bottom.
Ah so you seen many of their games this season, when you did watch them did you happen to notice that they fight for most balls and have played some quality football and just happen to have got where they are with by your statement a squad without quality, don't talk ****e just because they are not a big club does not mean they won't finish near the top or higher than us.
Despite the disappointment Oscar scores his chance and we go on to win that game, on the plus side we have one or two coming back from injury, and while it's gonna take time to gel properly we do need to cut out the defensive howlers. I think it's time for Baxter to get a go, Jones looks like he has picked up an injury and now we have lost Tetteh as well, get us into a back 4, two sitters in front, and let the technical players do their stuff up front. It was always going to be a difficult start and tbh we've exceeded expectations so far, but the porous defence is a concern.
Im not expecting to compete with the teams at the top end in terms of points at the end of the season. What I am expecting is to see progress in terms of how we play as a team, even if we make mistakes that cost us points.
The recruitment hasn't been bad at all, we've brought in some very good players. Injury has absolutely bummed us into submission, which has meant the preferred starting XI haven't kicked a ball in anger together. There was a noticeable difference when Seri came on, and then again when Pelkas came on (though the game had gone by that point). We had a top half defence last season but a very low goal total, so obviously defence wasn't a priority and attack was.
