I was referring to illegal immigrants. In France they receive nothing, genuine asylum seekers should be treated consistently in the countries in which they arrive and immigrants are just that people who have acquired the necessary documentation to allow them to reside and work in their country of choice. I have lots of sympathy for genuine asylum seekers displaced by conflict. Personally I have concerns about economic migration, I understand why it happens but would like to see support from rich nations to poorer ones to make this a less economically attractive option otherwise one could perpetuate an underclass of nomadic people. Nations should have the right to allow into their country who they choose, they should also have an obligation to provide support to asylum seekers but illegal immigration, which is what I was talking about, is just that illegal. If you contend that the majority of illegal immigrants into the UK are in fact genuine asylum seekers then I would have to ask why don't they remain in France or other European countries and register there rather than risk the perilous crossing of one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world in a dingy. I'm not saying they shouldn't come to the UK to seek genuine asylum it just appears odd that they choose to leave one G7 country to risk their life getting to another. Is it a language thing, relatives in the UK, but surely there are better routes to gain entry if you have relative in the UK or something else.
That's the issue really most countries would already have more, on average, if the fat cats weren't intent on getting fatter.
