I did it a few years ago ….. Slipped coming down off a raised tee-box …. Slightly embarrassing I’ll admit
Pleased to see Prest rewarded with a call up to the squad for this week. Recalling Weatherley before the break didn't really work - and he subsequently hasn't played any cricket. So I wouldn't be shocked if he gets dropped - but it could be for either Donald or Prest. I did wonder if Mason might make the squad, particularly given that I assume it won't be a fresh pitch. But I guess the awful weather forecast for this week put an end to any chance of him playing. If it comes true, there's little chance of anything other than a draw. Surrey can be very pleased at having this week off.
Forecast is very vague. Met Office says we should expect a dry day tomorrow. And then it's a case of fingers crossed with the showers.
Damn it, I thought Brown had done some real damage to his finger when dropping that catch stood up to Holland in the one-day cup semi-final and it appears that's right. I was hoping the fact that he carried on, after taking some painkillers, would mean that at least it wasn't broken and then he was named in the squad, but that was either bluffing or he's failed a late fitness test. I would certainly have gone for Prest rather than Weatherley but let's hope he proves me wrong. Losing the semi-final, Brown being injured, the weather around this week, losing Dawson for the last 2 games, it's all in danger of starting to unravel a bit.
Bit of an overreaction there. We should be fine without Brown against Northants. Donald's more aggressive batting could be useful if we lose overs. Can't do anything about the weather. It's September so Surrey are likely to be impacted as well at some point. Today should be fine - should get a whole day's play. Tomorrow looks Ok-ish until 4pm (Met Office) going by the hour by hour forecast. Too early to tell regarding Wednesday and Thursday. I think it's a case of fingers crossed we dodge most of the showers.
