£40 a week is less than the French payment. Googling answers rather than believing some right wing bullshit posted by a racist halfwit generally helps https://www.gov.uk/asylum-support/what-youll-get
At the moment the Tories are printing cash. Government money isn't like pleb money, they can make it up as they want. Giving money to people to spend in their local area means local businesses increase profits. Giving tax cuts or handouts to billionaires or Tory chums means it gets stuck in a tax haven. Over 80% of the people seeking asylum here have genuine claims. The ones that don't can't claim this cash, it's only for asylum seekers. To stop boats coming over there's a simple solution. Open asylum processing centres in Northern France. The UK takes in far fewer asylum seekers than most of the large EU countries.
France gives the following. Allowance of 11.45 euros a day or 343.50 euros a month while awaiting result of asylum process and applying for housing in one of some 300 asylum-seeker housing projects across France. Must pay for food from this allowance, but free or cheap meals often available from food banks. Free health insurance while application being reviewed. Cannot work for first 12 months. No £100 per day 4 * hotel with all meals. No free mobile phone, No priority on Doctors, Dentists, and less able to work in the black economy in France, due to stricter employment laws. Hence, the attraction of Treasure Island. A conservative estimate is that it costs the taxpayer £40,000 per annum for each illegal immigrant. An indigenous British pensioner who has contributed all his working life gets £9628. The population of the UK has expanded by 8 million immigrants and those born to immigrants in the last 10 years or so, so don't tell me we don't take enough asylum seekers. The Country is full.

New statistics released by the Home Office reveal just how costly, overwhelmed and abused our asylum system has become as illegal boat crossings have skyrocketed. More than 60,000 have arrived illegally by boat since January 2018 and almost all claim asylum. Here are some takeaways: We now have the highest number of asylum claims in 20 years The cost of asylum operations to taxpayers is now £2.1 billion per year and has nearly doubled in just one year (£5 million per day is being spent to house claimants in hotels). The backlog of claims has now surpassed 100,000 – with 40,000 people waiting a year or more for their claim to be initially considered The number of claimants receiving asylum handouts is now an astounding 116,000 (up from 33,000 in 2014). This year sees the highest asylum claims since 2002, and the fifth highest number ever (the four years between 1999 and 2002 saw higher numbers, with the peak in 2002, of 103,081 applications). https://www.migrationwatchuk.org/ne...you-2-billion-in-taxes-as-illegal-boats-mount
I answered the question, you just didn't like the answer. Do you think UK taxpayer money from people like you counts for anything in the annual budget?
You're mixing up immigrants and asylum seekers. They're very different. This country needs immigrants to make up for the birth deficit, we have too many old ****s and not enough people to support them.
That’s the trouble with you lefties you never see sense just have political dogmas which is far removed from reality
What was incorrect about my answer? Do you know how large the current deficit is? You think your taxpayer cash is going towards anything useful?
UK general government deficit (or net borrowing) was £15.8 billion in Quarter 1 2022, Money borrowed by the Government for which interest is paid out of current taxation. The cost of asylum operations to taxpayers is now £2.1 billion per year and has nearly doubled in just one year (£5 million per day is being spent to house claimants in hotels).
I support myself, as a pensioner I object to my £5000 per annum income tax, plus 20%vat and the rest, being paid out to ne'er-do-wells and illegal immigrants. Old folk have been penalised to support these parasites.
You can blame the Tories for not rebuilding housing stock. We need lots more Government/Council owned buildings. Ready to bet the owners of these hotels will be making donations to them.
Your money is a drip of piss in the shower of money they're pissing away daily. Don't worry about it.
