He’s done next to **** all wrong. Before social media and all the **** that goes with it we’d only know his name not every opinion he’s has or who does and doesn’t like him. As supporters we get to know far too much about what goes on behind the scenes.

Its quite sad that the very few make decent people think twice about posting, i like the majority enjoy that were even looking at these types of players & want to hear about it, great if it comes off....if it does it doesnt...might be clubs choice as they have found better.

All the utter fxckwits who dont want to beleive or are to be offended by...dont read it really is as simple as that.

Its like going to watch chubby brown, seeing the 'if easily offended sray away'....yet still going & being offended.

I have come to honestly beleive the world is now full of people around screaming to be offended....i think the sad bxstards get something out of it

I think its worse than that to be honest. We get small snippets of info, rumours, other people's opinions presented as fact, and Chinese whispers. None of which adds up to a balanced picture.

Give your head a shake man. You're a grown man repeatedly having a go at someone on the internet who has you on ignore and doesn't even pay attention.

We're all able to decide for ourselves if what he says is believable or not and how seriously to take it. Why you've felt the need to follow him from another message board is a little disturbing and borderline stalkerish to be honest. You should maybe see someone about that.

Aye you’re right, we’re all part of the problem to be fair, on here we all contribute to it in one way or another. Personally I prefer the rose tinted outlook and I’m always optimistic when it comes to Sunderland so perhaps I’m wrong in that respect but I don’t like negativity in any part of my life.

I've thought about this beforehand and couldn't understand why some people are so worked up and constantly angry about something that, at worst, is a bit of daft boasting from strangers on the internet.

It has to be jealousy that some people have mates, go to matches and generally have a laugh on here ...

... and more jealous that some lads actually know the odd player or someone who works at the club.

TBH it would be very strange indeed if none of us knew local people and players who live and socialise in the area.

I agree with all of that to a degree.

However I believe there's enough unavoidable negativity in life and see football as an escape from that. That's why Roker Park was crammed with men from the yards and the pits ...

... football is ultimately pointless but it takes us out of ourselves now and again.

This forum is generally decent crack plus gossip/info which depends on how you choose to see it.

Has to be something along those lines....its just weird....completely.

but that maybe taking a balanced look at it, i know no players, nobody at club....so if some do on here & can keep me in the loop as much as they can...why on earth can that not be anythibg other than good news

i do no social media at all, this is the first thing close to that ive felt comfortable talking on & there are some cracking people on here.

really enjoyed the pub pre Wembley was good to meet a few & gaimed through yourself a cracking lad as mate whos gone out of his way to collect tickets, help with tickets, ive helped back as lifes a two way street.

Hope all the ITKs keep passing bits on as things have not felt this positive at SAFC for a long long time....KTF

I think 90% of stuff on here is just honest discussion and, for the most part it's interesting, even when people have opposing views. Yeah, it can sometimes get a little bit heated but it calms down quickly. Twitter is a cesspool though- not just about SAFC but about pretty much every other subject- people don't want to discuss, just shout their viewpoint at the world. And in recent years, I've gone right off the fanzines, having once been a big fan of them.

I think any group or any individual who tries to position themselves as a gatekeeper to information about the club (or any subject) should be avoided as they can (and do try to) control the narrative.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion on Speakman and should be allowed to have their say. The argument that he's got some things wrong is valid. I just don't understand how he can be seen in a negative light when you look at the overall picture. I sometimes think that people's judgement is clouded by their impressions of him as a person. I thought the same of the criticism of Lee Johnson. I'm sure those who dislike Speakman and Johnson would disagree with that but it's the impression I get.

I wonder if there's any truth in us looking at Danny Rose. Seems like it would be a good signing and take some of the pressure off Cirkin who is the only senior LB at the club as far as I know.

It's not very long since this club was absolutely rotten under both Donald and Short. In fact you could say Short was actually worse as he seemed to have no plan whatsoever, Donald's was promotion/sell/profit which was fair enough imo.

The club is now respected enough for top clubs to loan us their players and for good young prospects to want to come ...

... and we're actually playing good football within a style set down by the club.

It's quite refreshing and people are actually counting down the days to the next match.

I can't see us going for Rose. He's lost the love of playing the game so wouldn't want that attitude around the youngsters. I think a lot of us have rose tinted glasses after the last time he was at the club.

Yeah he would be a daft signing imo. He has done nothing for years and hasn't lasted anywhere he has gone recently. Reminds me of Jack Rodwell.

I agree with all that except Twitter because I only see links to highlights and don’t subscribe to it.
I also had no problem with LJ but in December when we were 3rd I was unusually negative about us and posted about it on here and thought he had to go. I was in the minority as well and it was strange feeling like that when we were in that position but I thought it was awful and we were gonna drop like a stone. I was right in the end, but I didn’t mind him as a bloke he was just different to most of us up here.

He was great for us but you’re spot on, we don’t need a potential bad apple.

He doesn't seem to have been happy at his previous couple of clubs but Sunderland seems like a good place to be these days and maybe he'd be settled there. Think there were similar question marks about the attitudes of Roberts and Pritchard and look at them.

I don't think you need rose tinted glasses to look at the list of free transfer LBs and see that he's the clear standout ability wise. Maybe someone more knowledgeable than me could pick someone else out.

I started to find it a chore going to matches in League 1 and stopped using holidays to get time off work to go to games when I was on shift. Since Wembley things have changed though and as you say the matches can't come quick enough. The football is good, the atmosphere has picked up and hopefully things keep on the up. It seems like the owners have a good plan
