JONES KNOWS BEST HAVE GONE FOR 1:1 DRAW. Everton vs Liverpool, Saturday 12.30pm Making conclusive betting-based decisions at this early stage of the season is one fraught with danger due to the small sample size of results but jumping on a particular trend that the perhaps the market hasn't spotted yet is a profitable method of attack. It's in the early stages but I'm starting to ponder whether Liverpool are becoming overrated when playing away from home, especially when a key midfielder like Thiago is missing. It's in that midfield area where Liverpool set the tone for their ability to play high and press the ball, therefore negating space for opposition teams to make any quick inroads on their defence. Teams are playing through that press this season. In attack too, the numbers have fallen short in their two away games at Fulham and Manchester United - games they didn't win. Liverpool averaged an expected goals return of 2.3 goals per-90 on the road last season, it's just 1.25 this season. Meanwhile, Everton have tightened up and are now a much tougher team to put away with James Tarkowski and Conor Coady organising the defence. Avoiding defeat at Brentford and Leeds certainly are positive signs whilst Everton did win nine of their 18 Premier League home games last season so the Goodison Park factor does play a part. Past results are in their favour too with eight of the last 11 Merseyside derbies on the blue side having ended in a draw. SCORE PREDICTION: 1-1 | JONES KNOWS BEST BET: Everton to win or draw (2/1 with Sky Be
Good morning, Quietly looking forwards to the game today. Everton will try to frustrate, which we must get used to, there is no point getting wound up. I hope Darwin starts, he's the difference for us.
It's going to be a bloody horrible game to watch. Hopefully we can take an early lead to make it a more open match
It depends, if we score first (it sounds a novel concept but just might work) they can't time waste. Teams know that we struggle to control a game, it's something that we must work to improve. Funny but you don't really see teams try to frustrate city for an entire game, generally it's because its pointless. City have the ball 80% of the time, they control the match, you time wasting for a few minutes a half doesn't make any odds. Unfortunately at the moment we have little control, we lose the ball to easily, run out of options quickly. Punt it long after passing it about at the back. I hope we change slightly today, maybe not push the fullbacks and 2 of the midfielders right up the pitch and hopefully give a few more passing options to each other. Keep the ball better!
We are sadly absolutely ideal for any **** side with any sort of a fast lad. Bournemouth played a hee haw of a target.man with no pace near him and he actually ran away from our goal Palace and Newcastle had exactly the same game plan. Sit deep and narrow cos neither Diaz nor salah can cross.and our full backs no longer run to overlaps. Hoof it at a fast lad on their left up against gomez. Rinse and repeat even if you concede 1 cos its inevitable lfc let one in. 0-0 great result 1-0 phenomenal result for Everton. Simple as. They have gray and Gordon. Imo the script is written. Cheating driving 9 men back.
Artur is on the bench so he must have made it. As of 3pm yesterday sky were saying he was out on thier match thread.
I'm not sure what you're referring to here. I'd say we routinely control games and we rarely drop below 70% possession (perhaps a little lower average this season so far). The problem is, and has often been, a difficulty in breaking down a resolute defence, and this is where City have a distinct edge. The high line will always leave us vulnerable to a quick counter, but it's a gamble we have to take.
As long as Nunez can keep his head, this should be an ideal game for him. Judging by Benfica's match yesterday, it's not hard to see where the indiscipline comes from, but we haven't had too many red cards under Klopp so it's something I'm confident klopp can manage
Possesion isn't contolling the game though if you can't do owt with it. Teams are happy to concede possession of they know they can sit back and we can't break them down. They're controlling how the game goes.
