I reckon if they started doing school meals like they did , and did it with the same menu of old, the unit price per meal would be less than what they charge kids now for choice from a private catering firm menu.
Yes sometimes there were things you didn’t like , but I never starved from leaving the semolina, nor did my mates who did without the liver and onions.

In my opinion he is speaking a lot of common sense, have you listened to it?

He's not really, he's asking people to question what we are seeing or being told.

I wanted to dislike him and immediately labelled him in my mind because his voice got on my nerves, but he does pose some interesting points without favouring any particular side of the debate.

This for me, switched off after a couple of minutes due to his grating voice and wide eyes <laugh>, but put my prejudices aside and watched it through.

They are all as bad as each other. The NHS is a political football they all play with rather than doing something properly. All those amazing, dedicated staff that deserve so much better.

The current cost of living crisis, yet they are all on their holidays and no doubt will spend ages pissing about when action is needed now.

I have no faith in any if them

I MAY vote Monster Raving Loony Party, if there is a local candidate.

Couldn't vote for the incumbent who has shown that she doesn't give a stuff for the views of her Constituents.
If Liz is PM. couldn't vote anyone with her views on the 'scrounging poor'.

Not sure if you're interested in this, but there's an independent breakdown of expenses: https://www.theipsa.org.uk/mp-staffing-business-costs/your-mp

I had a look at my local mp (expenses for last year £160k) and compared it to about other MPs and it seemed favourable. There's a breakdown of all expenses - £145k of my MPs expenses were for staff which they have to hire themselves. The independent parliamentary committee defines the salaries and numbers allowed within margins so there can't be too much corruption in terms of paying massive wages. I expect that nepotism is strong in that area though.

I noticed that my MPs expenses seemed to go down when he stopped renting accomodation and just started staying in hotels on his visits to Westminster as well. There appears to be plenty of MPs claiming rent now, which I presume means they are renting rather than purchasing 2nd homes which used to be the norm.

I think a lot of the rules around being an MP could be stricter to make it more clear to the public. They could define exactly the number of staff you can have and the salary band they could be paid. They could provide accommodation for MPs rather than allowing them to choose their own. When staff are in Westminster, they could have them work out of offices rented by their party so there's no individual expense depending on preferences. Personally, I'd make it so you can't hire a relative to work on your staff as well, but I'm sure they'd find ways around that, hiring a colleagues relative instead etc.

My local MP did employ his wife but not sure if she is still on the books. Not sure either whether we get value for money from both houses of Parliament.

Everybody knows whatever job it is if you are on expenses some of it is trousered or it wouldn’t be worth doing it. What’s annoying is it doesn’t matter how many staff they have, high or low we will be paying the bill.

They are mostly bad but not all as bad as each other. Look at where we are now- because they are annoyed Sunak exposed an incompetent liar the Tory members will be electing someone clearly unfit to govern. All bad but some far far worse. There are other options- I think Green, also Lib Dem , independent. Anyone voting Tory is a ****er.
