Two unconnected posts. Seems some can’t work out why anyone would love it if a young man wearing the number 9 shirt his father, who died whilst the player at that club, was the last to wear.
Did mine on 24th May 2009 at the KC stadium, last game of the season v Man U, just after the Newcastle result came in, and just before Browny started singing. Jumped the East stand perimeter hoarding....snap....Bernard Mendy was waiting for me to jump on him only about 10 yards away but I couldn't get to him. Daren't tell the wife as we were going to Cyprus the next morning. Hobbled around for a week there (god knows how), then when I landed home a week later went straight to HRI for surgery, and kept in there for another week. It's a twat of an injury and still gives me swelling problems now
I thought it said that at first but they retired the number 9 shirt for 9 years, 12 years ago. Though I'm sure plenty of people will love it if he scores.
Mine had completely severed just below the calf muscle, hence the boot, which kept my foot tilted at an angle to allow the tendon to regrow and re-attach. I had to go to the hospital every couple of weeks to have the boot adjusted gradually, so that the tendon grew back to its normal length otherwise I’d have spent the rest of my days walking on tip toes!
**** ME! Window closes and 18 hours later we have an NHS support group... That'll **** with Lambo's OCD...! Carry on folks...
Read it that they retired the number 9 shirt 12 years ago when his dad, who wore it, died, and that his son would be the first to wear it since. Obviously, as you point out, he won’t be the first to wear it since. Most of us agree will indeed love it if he scores.
