Over the past 5 years this is what Liverpool have done.

    upload_2022-9-2_13-27-39.png

In achieving this the clubs spent:
City Net spend: 426 million pounds - this season 19mil
Chelsea net spend: 242 milion including a transfer ban and sale of hazard for 101mil. This season 200mil net spend

Liverpool: Net spend 190mil. number is offset by by 147 sale of Coutinho to barca of course. This season its 13mil

The others are pretty shocking tbh

Arsenal 440mil net spend - no thats right... 440 mil as of today
Man utd 550 mil net spend you heard right. not 50mil. 550 mil
    Spurs 330 mil net spend
    Leicester 35mil net spend total

I think we need to think hard on critiques of Klopp here. He's had some money to spend and he's spent it to deliver us "seven" trophies (even if 3 are plated brass tbh)

Certain people how complain about not even painting the steel and liars get to go first need to shut their mouths with a net spend of 550mil.

LFC are competing with 4 sides who have double our net spend over the past 5 years. Klopp has managed this on actually having a plan, sticking to said plan and driving teamwork when he gets the players he can get.

Yup. We spend big on players, but not a large number of them. Ironically it’s what we should have been doing under Rafa, but he rather spent £60m on 4 players than buy 2 star players.

Nowadays, we buy 1 or 2 big name players for big money, so makes us seem like big spenders as always near the top of the highest fee spent.

but unlike city, chelsea United, who might buy 3 of them in one go for £70m each.

you are absolutely right. rafa loved a deal.

we are very good at picking up bargains that might never be good enough but turn a little profit.

Cheslea have bought at least 3 players who might never play for them this window which would be one first team player for us and they've sloshed massive money at players in positions that don't really improve them .... if a real coahc got a hold of havertz, werner and pulisic they'd be world beaters. they chose money and wil reap the disaster ocming.

City are a juggernaut but there is no reason why we should not be winning more league titles. The club have done a remarkable job in getting us to where we are today but then just stopped spending once we won the CL. Yes, we have bought players since then but we needed more - the squad is constantly thin in certain areas every year and as a result, we play catch up . We take too many risks with this approach.

And we go into this season looking far from fresh and with the midfield looking very weak. It's as if the club happy to take risks, sacrifice a season and wait it out.

Do you have the total PL points for the period as well? Just for comparison.

    Points over 5 years

    City 458 average 91.6
    Liverpool 432 av 86.4
    Chelsea 349, av 69.8
    Utd 345, av 69
    Spurs 340, av 68
    Arsenal 319 av 63.8
    Leicester 279 av 55.8

    There you go.

Utd have not improved one jot over 5 years. Leicester briefly improved.

City average is unheard of in English history and only one title winning seasone as 86 points which was when we didn't challenge them.

This is doping in action but when you look at the waste of money 3 other sides are doing for no return its a shocker compared to spurs.

Nearest (Chelsea) are 16.6pts on average behind, that's massive.

This team and Klopp have been so unfortunate to be around at the same time as this Man City setup. No matter how they achieved it, they're a bloody good side!!!
