There’s no doubt that Nasri is more talented than Gervinho. he has better vision, more accurate at passing, better at holding the ball and arguably a better dribbler. Gervinho is a far more direct player than Nasri but in my opinion Nasri offers far more versatility, today for example we could have really done with his ability to hold the ball and make the right pass in centre mid, song and Arteta were not very effective. Nasri is anonymous at times but he can win games on his own, I don’t see Gervinho being able to perform such a feat, he had a number of chances against Marseille but was let down by his first touch. Nasri would have buried at least one of the chances given his first touch is excellent.
Welcome to the Arsenal board mate.... Ex-Players are scum (well apart from Henry and Fab).... Gooners are still bitter about Nasri leaving us... how dare he? Whether he is a money grabber or not, he is miles better than Gervinho, who incidentally is nothing more than a squad player! Why let bitterness get in the face of the bleeding obvious..
Nasri is a superb player but he's also a pretentious little **** who I've no doubt wasn't playing to his full abilities (in his last 6 months with us) because he was trying to engineer a move away. For that reason alone he can do one. Gervinho has already achieved far more in his first season with us than Nasri did despite the turmoil we're in and despite the fact that the team Nasri joined was far stronger. I'll give Gervinho the two and a half years Nasri had before he came good before I properly compare the two though as it's not fair otherwise. Let's not forget as well that every good performance Nasri does from now onwards will have been backed up by a £3272346723485675621576151 squad.
Nasri is the more talented but Gervinho is the more productive. He runs more, works harder and has a FAR better attitude. Gervinho will score more and get more assists not because he's a better player but because he shows FAR more desire on the pitch. Nasri is a real talent but he's not got the right attitude. (much like arshavin) Nasri has the ability to be one of the very best though.
I started this thread and I'm not bitter about him leaving...i understand it, he wasn't going to commit past this year as the club doesn't seem to be going anywhere and City not only can double his wages but are really challenging. Past seasons we could afford not to be the top wage payers because we were fighting for the title most seasons (plus there weren't as many teams who could pay them more). Gervinho needs to be more consistent but if he settles and continues to improve I have faith he'll give us that player we've been missing for years, the Pires, Overmars type player who can share in the goals and deliver a sizeable amount of assists. Nasri of course is a good player but we saw him at the club for 3 seasons and if you summed up that whole period at the club he was average apart from 1 purple patch. Part of the reason we didn't achieve anything last year was that from January he went missing. His role would change from looking more like a holding player but not being strong enough in the tackle to an attacking player that couldn't make the telling through ball to create a goal scoring chance, either he did it all himself or not much else. Nasri is gone we hope Gervinho will be an improvement and my opinion is that in 6-12 months we will believe that he is
To be honest they are dissimilar players.... However Nasri is versatile and could play in the same team as Gervinho and Gerv is not really a replacement.... I am struggling to see why fans think his tenure at the Emirates was not a successful one.....
Gervinho is an improvement over Nasri? Get the Hell out of here! should of just got Eden Hazard, then we can say Hazard is an improvement over Nasri. Gervinho on his day top player, Nasri the his day world class. End of. I went to Ten home games of Nasri first season and every game I saw him play he played good. Can not say the same for some other players in those games.
Well true. Another reason why comparisons here are pointless. I doubt many would say he failed with us but he had only 6 months where he really shone and showed his full potential. Whether that was him adapting, bad management, him growing into the player he is today or that there were just better players than him there already is another matter. Meh, I'm not yet a fan of Gervinho and I think Nasri epitomises much of what I despise in modern day football so I don't really care.
The fact that most are saying either: "comparisons are pointless" or "you cant compare because they are different kinds of players" pretty much goes to show that most think Nasri is the better player.
True! I just wished he stayed... Because he would have been more vital to us than @ citeh..... But we move on.... Grudgingly!
