I think the comparisons between Naby and Ox are definitely there. Often injured. Frequently below par performances but have had some great performances. Both would be main men at a mid table team but second tier for us. The difference is Naby will be great one game and then terrible the next five before putting in a stellar performance again. Ox's form is more consistent. He was good for a period of time and then he was bad for a period of time. Both men will eventually leave Anfield knowing they did have some excellent games for us.
That is what I mean, should have sold both in the Summer when they were not injured, which is rare I know
The problem for me with Thiago is that it usually takes him a couple of games to get up to speed (which when he has returned from injury as many times as he as is strange) and due to the number of niggles he gets It’s just a pain lol
Apparently Villa wanted to sign Phillips but we said so, so now they're getting Bednarek on loan instead. Not sure that will endear Gerrard to Villa fans.
well anyone who's a big enough gobshite to not get their business done early but shop in the desperate bucket on the last day has to accept players won't be available. The world knows konate is injured. The world knows klopp is holding phillips now cos nobody bid enough anyway but he is now 4th choice and thats that. It's a complete and utter waste of your own time to sit looking at Lfc knowing full well the price on July 1 was 15mil. and it still was 15mil the day konate pulled up. It would maybe have been 2 or 3 mil less today max. For that they can enjoy bednarek.
to Who? Maybe we tried but there were no takers. It’s easy to say just sell but you need a club willing to pay the fee and the wages, plus the player to want to go. Neither would want to take a pay cut and can’t see clubs giving them what they’re on with us
inthe middle of this we also have 2 more kids gone on loan today. theres one thats not been sorted who had a strop over the preseason tour so that might just be a slap down.
Fidel o'rourke has been loaded out as well. That's another of the "doesn't quite fit with u21 strategy" players from the former u23s. We are using the u21s as a u19 team and from there to loan or sale. Realistically nobody really wants a 20 year old froman Academy, they want a 20 year old with a couple solid loans that prove they can do the job. U18s straight to u21 at 18 and 19 (cannonier is a good example) and then you are either good enough or not. Bajcetic shows what a good young un can do when given the chance but a 90% of our youths don't get that far.
