Good Morning. It's Thursday 1st September, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Hwang deal off Any hope that Leeds will land Wolves striker Hwang Hee-Chan have been dashed after Phil Hay disclosed that the West Midlands outfit rebuffed Victor Orta's advances, insisting the South Korean International is not for sale! According to Hay :- An enquiry to Wolves about Hwang Hee-chan was rebuffed yesterday and with Wolves indicating that the South Korean is not for sale, Leeds do not intend to go back in again. please log in to view this image It's the Final Countdown Leeds have until 11pm tonight to put their affairs in order, and conclude any last minute Summer deals. There's a good chance that price tags may soar in the New Year, with hundreds of players showcasing their talents on the biggest footballing stage in the World just prior to the January transfer window. With this being the case, I understand that after having their fingers burnt by the Jean Kevin Augustin affair, they would want to ensure that any big money signing was right for the club, but surely not at the expense of leaving Leeds exposed going forward! please log in to view this image D-Day on James decision Phil Hay has penned an interesting piece in this Morning's 'Athletic'. He discusses Dan James, and whether Leeds still want / need him? It's almost a year to the day since the pacey winger joined the Whites, during which time he's made 36 appearances, and netted 4 times. Nobody can argue that James is the consummate professional. He has had to play out of position many times due to glaring gaps in the squad, but has never whinged once. He told the Elland Road board that he wanted to stay and fight for his place when Spurs came knocking two weeks ago, yet since then, both Everton and Fulham have joined the race. With the arrival of Luis Sinisterra, it is feared the Columbian International may edge James out of the starting XI, and with Summerville making great strides towards the first team, can Leeds afford to let James go? If he has a good World Cup with Wales, could his valuation soar? £20m+ is a lot of money to Leeds, especially if Victor Orta can work his magic, but with hours remaining until the transfer window slams shut, is there time to complete a deal? According to Hay:- "When stories about Spurs first arose, he is understood to have told Leeds that he wanted to stay. And while wingers are in ample supply at Elland Road, there has been caution about inviting a situation where too much expectation was placed on Crysencio Summerville, a prospect without a Premier League start to his name. But in Jesse Marsch’s pecking order, James’ position is unclear or far from bulletproof. He was back on the bench against Everton in midweek, edged out of the frame by Luis Sinisterra. And the turn of Leeds’ attention to PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo in the past 48 hours threatened the influx of more competition." "James believed he could hold down a place in Marsch’s line-up long term but the £20million signing of Sinisterra, who is already showing the twinkles of imagination a club look for in a new recruit, was always a challenge to others in the same position. Sinisterra can almost provide the best of both worlds in Marsch’s system: the discipline to follow the plan in an inverted attacking line of three but a brain that will naturally look for opportunities closer to the touchlines, subconsciously giving width to a side who are not flush with it. At Feyenoord, they regarded him as someone who oozed goals and assists, and Leeds can probably bank on plenty." please log in to view this image Gakpo is going nowhere PSV Eindhoven are in a similar situation that Leeds are in with Dan James. £35m rated Cody Gakpo has been attracting interest from a host of Premier League teams all Summer, including Leeds The Dutch giants have the opportunity to cash in on their star forward; but a recent statement from the Eredivisie leaders, now makes this unlikely. Official sources now claim that Gakpo will not be leaving the Phillips Stadium this Summer. please log in to view this image
Morning all Orta flew out on a private jet, surely the possibility of getting Gakpo isn't completely dead in the water? After such an amazing opening to the transfer window disappointing is an under statement. We've made a profit this window, more have left than have entered and looking at the final squad Doc put together: The bolded ones aren't really going to feature much unless injury forces it, they're not first team players. Some could do with going out on loan, Dallas is a long way off a return, we are so light up front just as we were previous seasons Meslier Klaesson Robles Ayling Firpo Koch Cooper Llorente Dallas Struijk Hjelde Drameh Kristensen Forshaw Summerville James Harrison Klich Gray Aaronson Roca Sinisterra Adams Gyabi Bamford Rodrigo Gelhardt Greenwood
Come on orta bag Gakpo and then James can do what he wants. I have absolutely no problem replacing James however I do have a problem letting him go without another forward, one perhaps more suited to playing up top doesn't come in I guess im tryjng to say James has been unlucky and a bit of a victim of circumstance but maybe doesn't fit the structure as well as a new signing may
The annoying thing for me was that we had 2 marquee players on our list. We went for one of them but got rebuffed and then sat on our hands. We took a gamble that we would have 3 fit strikers and Rodrigo on fire. That gamble backfired in a big way on Tuesday night. So we then decide to start looking at our list again and get fooked off again because were were too late. Gapko would have been ours weeks ago if the club had turned from CDK and gone in for him. Eindhoven need him now because other players have been sold and they were hoping Man Utd would offer £50m for him. A new contract on the table for Gapko to stay with a big pay rise. Leeds look stupid, we always needed another striker and now we will end up getting someone who was bottom of our list
Morning all Looks like Gapko is a dead duck as we speak. The thing is deals happen so fast on deadline day that we COULD have a new striker like Diaz signed by 11pm
Morning all. Said it before that only ambition these owners have is pl survival, year on year. Continue to milk the fatted cow. Do enough to keep fans on board and dish out same spin time and again. Can't find better players than we have blah blah. Who knows if Gapko would have come at any point. Were not offering European football so that greatly limits what we can attract. Forget all that nonsense of following Leicester plan and we were going to be in Europe in five years. Am I annoyed, absolutely not. Its the hope that eventually deflates you. Ive no doubt under this regime well only ever be one of those teams making up numbers until we eventually have a bad season. But Ill continue to relish each and every point we win and love the battles to win them. Probably not what the eternal optimists want to read but hey ho
You have to wonder too Doc. Orta gets paid megabucks and bonuses and he can only produce a list of two marquee signings, neither of which were available, after two years at least working on it. Without JM as coach I doubt wed have got any of the quality in that arrived this summer at all. Where can one send a cv to become a director of football. Anyone here could do it with a few weeks training or at least as well as he does
Did he arrive from milan/madrid/paris/munich or any top club. No victor orta arrived from Middlesbrough. A club where i might add he made a complete arse of his job. Marsch has been choosing the majority of the new signings. Orta as they say has the kings ear and to me is a fraud who landed on his feet. Rads admitted he knew nothing about running a football club. So victor seized his opportunity and make mega bucks for himself.
Good morning, IMO Gakpo will move to a "big" club in the next 12 months and we'll rue our opportunity to sign him. In the unlikely event he does end up here in January I can only see it being after the sale of Harrison who presumably would bring in more dosh than James. If we were to make a signing now it looks more likely to be Pedro from Flamengo, the only real out and out striker we've been linked with. Might not be a bad punt, but I doubt it will happen.
Just read Orta has boarded his private jet back to the UK obviously alone ****ing disgrace Orta why did you not move for this guy earlier, like on the day CDK said I don't want to join you
Well he need to drive over to Blackburn next a suck off Diaz so we sign a striker before Fulham or Villa get their hands on him.
So the 49ers have a deal where they only match what Radz spends and puts into the club, they have money ready to invest but as Radz has a net spend of zero because we are in profit from sales the 49ers can't invest anything as it would increase the value of their 44% stake His done his job, it's now time for Radz to move on
The worst thing about this window is that we spent so long trying to get CDK that we are now running around like a headless chicken trying find someone
