I can't be the only one to find this sudden outbreak of fanciful talk of whether Pardew should be considered for England to be another sinister press tactic, engineered to derail our modicum of success.

First I'll say that on merit and form he would deserve it, the guy came into a volatile situation and hasn't put a foot wrong since in my opinion. What the press forget is that while on the face of it he seemed to be a very average appointment at the time, the anger from fans was all about the treatment of Chris Hughton. We could have brought Mourinho in and I would have been angry at the way the man was dispensed, and to an extent he had kick-started the revolution we're now seeing bear fruit. Pardew's track record hadn't been particularly inspiring previously and it's great to be pleasantly surprised at how superb he has been. Anyone predicting that would have been called a mentalist.

However to talk him up as Capello's successor after a sturdy finish last season and a superb opening TEN games is madness and I don't think those asking the question really give it any credence. More likely they are the Tottenham sympathising hacks keen to keep old 'Arry out of the FA's clutches, or just bitter pundits who predicted and so desperately wanted us to fail miserably this term. Try and unsettle the manager or the players and take their eye off the ball with a load of insipid paper talk.

I give Pardew more credit than that, but it's irritating in the extreme when these idiots start hailing him as England's next scapegoat whilst laughing at the Newcastle fans for apparently not wanting him here. This being a manager THEY had ZERO confidence in this season, apart from being a certainty for the drop.

TalkSport are currently running a poll on whether he could be England manager and ten games ago they published a prediction on the website that we'd finish the season below newly promoted Norwich, in 15th place... Utter joke.

I think it should be taken with a pinch of salt for the minute, any englishman with reletive success and applause will have his name thrown around as it seems evident that Fabio is off after the Euros.

Matt holland was the one saying that he should at least be looked at if he keeps the form up. TBF at one stage wasn't BSA alan curbishley and martin o'neil interviewed for the england job?

Inevitably it'll be 'arry who'll end up tapping up the whole Spanish national team because he knows a guy who does passports

Perhaps they should give it to Chris Hughton then and leave Pardew and Redknapp well alone? Stranger appointments have been made... I'm sure he'd do better than McClaren!

To me the next England manager should be Stuart Pearce, he is being trained up for this role, and the FA should give him a go.

What makes a good club manager does not necessarily make a good international manager.

I wonder though if once Arry inevitably gets the job, will Spurs look at Pardew as a possible replacement?

Its just laughable. Before Newcastle Pardew had a pretty sketchy record (some would say poor, some would say average). He has done well and built on the success that Hughton had. He deserves credit but its not even time to judge him as Newcastle boss nevermind thinking about England. For me you judge a manager after three years in charge (not the trigger happy 6months to a year that some operate) Pardew at West Ham is prime example of why. He got an FA Cup final early doors, but by the third year had more or less consigned them to relelagtion by Christmas.

If all that now qualifies you as England manager, then I give up with the FA! I assume Pearce will be the next England manager, otherwise why did they start the process when they appointed Capello? If we go back on that then I'll be hugely disappointed because it will come down to pressure from the public. Not being funny but the public of this country are not qualified to decide that, half of them interested in football are thick as pigshit.

The FA won't appoint Harry for me. He burnt that bridge when he got involved in some of the seedier aspects of football management. There is too much risk attached as the presss will holding a lot of stuff back on Harry in case he should ever get the job. Anyway saggy face can **** off because we should appoint Pearce. He has done the apprenticeship, learnt from Capello, learnt about manjor tournaments with the 21's, its the right decision.

Redknapp hasn't got the bottle, or the tactical nous to outsmart his superiors. If the replacement is English then all we're doing is consigning our country to another 2-4 years of insignificance. If it's Guus Hiddink I'd be impressed, or Mourinho, he wants to come back to England. I get the feeling it will be a huge disappointment whoever is replacing Crapello.

Why not he's as good as any candidate I mean everyone raves about Harry Redknap but he inheriated a side bursting with talent when he took over at Spurs. He's also unpleasant on the eye.
