As IWC said, a ****e 0:0 draw with a couple of red to United and a host of missed chances to Sunderland would suit me down to the ground!

Going 2nd would be awesome though, it'd be like being back in the early 2000's with Sir Bobby's babes!

personally i'm with the people saying they only want the mackems to win if we beat everton. only trouble with that is if they manage to win by some miracle it might kick start their season...

I want MUFC to hammer the mackems because at the end of the season I think that we will be closer to Sunderland than Man Utd.
I don't think that we are serious rivals to the top 4 so I would like to enjoy seeing our unhygenic neighbours get their arses kicked at Old Trafford. (but I have a feeling that they will narrowly lose 2-1)

I wish there was some way they could both lose. Honestly though, living overseas, Man U is far more annoying. So I actually kind of want Sunderland to win. I know a lot of people will disagree with that, but it's more or less the way Steve Bruce feels most likely, so I'm not the only one.

I'd happily watch Sunderland win if we beat Everton. Getting onto hyperbole now, but I'd happily have Sunderland second if it meant us winning the league and we won both the derbies. I personally don't think we'll be around either team at the end of the season (behind Man U but well ahead of Sunderland, unless weirdness happens) but I'd still like to see us second in the league on MOTD 11 games in.

I've said the whole 'us first sunderland 2nd' things a few times now. Most of my mates back home are mackems and I quite like them, being my mates n all, so would be happy to see that...Plus, think of the banter if it were to happen!

Its a win-win as far as I'm concerned. Top four is shaken up, North East is a 'hotbed' again, and we still get the bragging rights from both games, finishing above them, and ending our trophy drought. Happy days.

I just can't get the logic of people who want to see them go down, where's the fun in that, barring a silly default 'we finished above them 3 years in a row despite them being in a different league for one of them', eh Brucey?

i must admit i'd laugh if they went down but it wouldnt be the same without them. i enjoy the banter and the derbies. i'd prefer them to have to keep narrowly avoiding relegations year on year while we flourish.

Hope for what you like, but I doubt we'll be doing you any favours. Anyway, we could beat them 5-0 and we'd still be last on MOTD!

It's a tough one. Because while we'd be 2nd for a bit longer which would be nice, like someone said earlier, we're going to be closer to Sunderland by the end of the season so opening up a bigger gap between us would be helpful.

Still, we have to beat Everton first.

I must say I can always enjoy a watchign Sunderland.

If they win, I can feel a big brother-little brother pride in the NE doing well. If they lose, I enjoy seeing a traditional rival have problems. The only timne I'm bothered about the result is when they play us, and recently those have been good to watch as well.

That's because nobody outside of the pubs in Sunderland is remotely interested in you. <ok>

    It's a win-win situation as far as I'm concerned:

Sunderland draw/win and we get to stay above Man U - which in the short term would be fantastic for confidence and morale and we may play better aginst Man U in the upcoming match with that confidence - but ultimately they'll finish way above us so won't help long term.

Man U win - and it helps us gain more points over a potential end of season rival (though we're currently 12 pts ahead of them, anything could happen). Also - it's nice to see them lot lose of course haha.

I don't think local rivalry comes that much into it for this game - as ultimately we've got to think about what's best for us - unlike Brucie and the mackems who are OBSESSED with nufc (so would probably be happy to lose ha ha!).

Ah, jOkElEsS. Wonderfully uninteresting, as usual.

I'd chuck in a few smileys, but I really can't be arsed...

I would love to Man Utd lose at home on the 25th anniversary of Ferguson taking over, but I desperately don't want Sunderland to win there, as we'll never hear the end of it.
