Looks like Oriol's transfer to Girona is almost done. A sad day but a day that was coming sooner rather than later. Absolute club legend as far as I'm concerned. This thread is to share memories, post videos etc and pay tribute to a player and a man who has been a true servant to the club.
Bald by choice. Bold in nature. Absolute legend. Will give myself a 1-grade all over in his honour today
One of the genuine players, individuals and gents of the game. We've been lucky to have him on our side, and he's been a huge credit to the club and himself. It's the right time now, but he'll be very much missed.
His character is just what you want from a Saints player, he put his all into not just the football club but the city and the wider area too. He genuinely loved being here which is so refreshing to see. On top of that he was a bloody good player, who Pep described as the best in his position! I will miss him, but best of luck to him, following your heart can never be criticised, especially as he is still good enough to play in the Premier League. Enjoy your latter playing years Ori, being closer to your family, I'm sure you have many years left! Once a Saint, always a Saint!
Not if we don't have time to sign a replacement. If Lavia is out for a while, then we would be fools to let him go and have just JWP & Diallo as our only CMs. For me it depends on the extend of Lavia's injury and the possibility of a replacement. Obviously Romeu has been great for us and deserves to get his wish, but no way should we consider having just 2 fit CMs for any length of time.
Girona are playing Mallorca on Saturday. I wonder if he´ll play? I´m a season ticket holder ( Mallorca ), I´ll try and get a photo and maybe a chat.
Seriously underrated for a lot of his time here but eventually earned the respect of the fans and in his latter seasons put in some truly mouth-dropping performances against some of the best midfielders in the world. Was a joy to watch. And obviously just such a lovely, warm, huggable kind of a man. You just know he's a Saint for life, like Maya. Thanks Oriol! I wish all footballers were as humble as you.
