I was surprised at how poor Christie was tonight after his recent CV in the Championship. Was really expecting more. He was really wasteful with the ball, couldn’t find a man at all and defensively he looked poor. Hopefully it’s just down to him lacking minutes for a while.
I can only remember the one that slowly drifted to the back post that everyone thought had gone out of play. I mainly remember the various time after time he needlessly passed it astray throughout the game and put us on the back foot under minimal pressure. He did help set up a good chance in the first half with a header to Tetteh to be fair to him, but overall he was very sloppy tonight. Not the only culprit, but the worst for me.
Theres clearly a reason Woods didn't start. And no, 5 mins late in the game doesn't get Christie match sharp this side of Xmas. Coyle is carrying a knock and had to be rested. Not the time to panic. QPR will be top 10 and we won't win every game.
Who said anything about 5 minutes late in the game? You can bring someone like Christie on with 20 to play to see the game out and slowly work him up to match fitness, not throw him in from the start. No different to Longman getting a few appearances off the bench and then a start tonight. I would have started Williams if Coyle wasn't fit, and shift the formation. We were way too open in a 4 against QPR's width anyway.
Shota told Burnsy only Coyle back for Sunday, despite already saying he expects Seri and Tufan back for then too last week.
Coyle was ripped to pieces by Diangana. Christie wasn't tonight. I don't dispute he was wasteful, I just thought he was fine and solid enough considering his lack of sharpness
Should get on the blower to Acun then. You can see what Shota couldn't from. 6k miles away despite him seeing them on the training ground all week. Harsh to judge a depleted squad against a good side away from home.
Seri and Woods are too similar, I don't think that would work. Either Seri, Slater with Tufan more advanced or Seri and Tufan with Pelkas as the number 10.
The old "You're on the other side of the world you aren't allowed an opinion". Really thought you were better than that. I made the same comment last week that it's not sustainable the amount of chances we're allowing, and I repeated on the pod during the week. It's not hindsight to say that we're far too open at the moment. You going to have a crack at everyone else slating the side tonight or just me?
Shota saying about a striker on the radio. Dunno how much more proof we need from both tonight and West Brom that we need a big ball winner in the midfield. Smallwood used to grind us through spells like the first half and we’ve yet to bring in a similar profile. And here we are talking about bringing in another ****ing striker FFS
I can't see it from 120 miles away either, nor could anyone else living 5 minutes from the training ground. I thought you were better than a knee jerk. Suppose its just football fans and should be expected. And yes, I'll criticise all bed wettes but it'll the next win sweeter.
Again, it's not a knee jerk if I've been saying it for the past 3 games. PNE, Burnley, Norwich, WBA, Cov and now QPR have dominated shots and chances against us. It's not sustainable and when we don't get variance going in our favour we get results like WBA and tonight. It's not bed wetting and it's not reactionary, it's a fair criticism and observation about the way we're playing.
And you don't think that's down to injuries? Cannon, Williams and Smith aren't the answer. Get the players who can play consistently at this level up to speed ASAP by playing them and if we lose a few in the meantime so be it. We'll be better off in the medium term.
I’m baffled by Seri’s injury. Was supposed to be back for Sunday, now he isn’t. I’m not even sure what his injury is. We’ve had a lot of hamstring and other muscle injuries. I’m now thinking this is down to our training methods and not mere bad luck.
So you acknowledge it is happening and it isn't bed wetting? Yes when we get our better players back we should be able to dominate and get a better grip on games, but until then perhaps we have to play a bit more compactly and not allow the opposition so many chances?
It was initially a knock meaning he’d miss 1 game, it has now been 6. Seen someone tonight on Twitter suggesting he’s not in the right frame of mind to play. It’s probably rubbish but when the club are silent these type of rumours surface
You think it's an overreaction to be critical of how we've played in all bar one game of the season? Should we all just be happy clappers and just shut the forum down as there's no point discussing anything?
Not at all. Opposite POVs make it worthwhile. It's been a promising start for me, and we're a different side with a bit of creativity back in midfield.
