    That's exactly it, it was pretty obvious last season that Winks was only playing because Conte had no choice. Conte said how he could trust him but his actions showed differently, played about 65 minutes of football in the last 13 league games and that was when we had just two fit CMs in Bentancur and Hojbjerg, as Skipp was crocked. Now he's behind Hojbjerg, Bentancur, Bissouma, Skipp, Sarr and White... Keeping him would've just been a waste of the club's finances and would've killed whatever morale Winks may have had left. This is a good move for Spurs and Winks.

    I don’t think loaning out Wins is pointless. He is very unlikely to get game time with us. If he gets time in the pitch with another club it may be easier to sell him in January/July

    Conte likes James a lot apparently.
    He offers a lot of pace - which Spurs could use, but for the last 5 years, that’s all he’s offered. His game hasn’t developed in any other ways.

    That's true but I would have thought Sarr and White would benefit more from loans and with two of our four main CMs being injured currently, we definitely need to keep one of those three.

    Perhaps he is the type of player Conte thinks he can improve through coaching. As others have said, Conte won the PL with Moses and Alonso as wingbacks The former showed no form before or since.

    While the money for Gvardiol is ridiculous, this is a good move by Chelsea. That makes it over £300million spent by them this window. Impossible to match.

    It just makes a total mockery out of FFP (again).how are they allowed to get away with it?
    With Man Utd and Chelsea spending like they are, to finish in the top 4 will be a hell of an achievement this season
