Doesn’t he mainly play on the left either as a WB or LW? Not against signing him but where would he fit in? Or would he be able to be play RWB?
I assume Reguilon fronting up this season in La Liga will at least guarantee that Madrid municipal council will buy him from Spurs next summer.
So for the Champions League we currently only have 7 association trained players but 18 to fit into the foreign trained list which has a limit of 17. Doherty, Gil and Sarr might still all leave which gives us two potential slots. I assumed Dan James was to fill the homegrown slot left by Winks but I don't think he qualifies as he was at Swansea. I imagine we are pretty confident of signing a locally trained player since otherwise loaning Winks would be pointless. Who?
This is baffling to me. Not just the fact that we want to sign him; also the fact that we might fail in that attempt and therefore need contingency plans. He isn't Federico Chiesa for crying out loud!
Doherty hasn't actually been linked with a move away for what it's worth (unless I've missed something), it's just been something I said I could see happening. Gil should get his loan and I hope Sarr does too, though I just hope James or Traore aren't one of the players we genuinely want to waste a non-HG spot on. Loaning Winks out is with the hope he does well and someone then actually gives us some cash, makes a lot of sense, he would've barely played a minute this season had he stayed and his value would've further plummeted.
It certainly makes sense if we have no more injuries but I wouldn't do the deal until we had someone else confirmed.
We'd need around 3+ injuries to our midfielders before Winks would even likely make the bench. A replacement really isn't necessary for someone who's around 7th in the pecking order for a CM spot.
Agree with this. Getting rid of surplus players is a necessity even if it’s just on loan. Keeping Winks when Conte has made his view on the player clear would be foolish and a waste of money (wages)
