I am getting really p**sed off with Nottingham Franchise hovering up the players no doubt Saints are after! Look at the money they are paying, essentially pushing up the prices. How many players did they start with, before signing 18 new ones and counting?
I wouldn't have taken many of the players they've signed TBH. I would have taken Henderson before we signed Bazunu but I'm more than happy with Baz now thanks. Possibly Gibbs-White as well but they're paying stupid money. I'm far happier with our strategy thanks.
I wouldn’t have taken many of who they got for the fees they paid. So possibly Gibbs-White but not for a deal that could go over 40m I wouldn’t be surprised if we wanted Henderson but abandoned the idea when we were told it was a loan only without and option. That is no way to treat the goalkeeper position if you have a choice The two Huddersfield players for a combined 10m would have been worth consideration - but have required one of our central midfielders to move out
So if I understand it correctly lots of pundits are confident of forest being fine this season on the back of : - a draw against a dreadful Everton team managed by an appalling manager - an absurdly lucky home win against a West Ham side that haven’t found their stride at all where the goal bobbled in off the guys thigh after a lucky deflection and West Ham really should have won They could well be fine and are certainly making an effort unlike many promoted sides but I don’t see where the level of confidence is coming from
To be fair they played really well today. Very unlucky to lose. I think we will do very well to beat them if they play like that
My take is that the cross wasn’t going directly into the goal, so his handball didn’t stop a goal. However, you can argue that he did stop a goal, because Harry Kane would almost certainly have headed the ball in, but then you would also have expected HK to score the penalty.
It doesn't have to be going in though. If Cook was denying a clear goalscoring opportunity that is a red card.
But wouldn’t the red card be ruled out under the double jeopardy rule, as it would with a foul in the box?
I’d love to see a stat for highest proportion of goals scored that were deflected over the past 5 seasons or so. Feels like West Ham score so many deflected goals
That handball in the Forest game has to have been a red card. What an absurd decision. The guy basically acted as a second goalkeeper. It is literally breaking rule one of FOOTball And that wasn't a good penalty from Kane. Still a good save but I'd expect any keeper to have dived the right way to have saved it. It was a good height and not far enough over
Reading the Villa forum for their views on who they can get as their next manager if Gerrard is sacked is amusing. Most common names are Poch and Potter! They also are slamming the idea that Gerrard can attract bigger names to them - claiming that "only" Coutinho has joined who Dean Smith wouldn't have been able to sign for them and that he actually isn't good any more. It must be nice to be so entitled as a fan base. Or maybe it isn't?
Hiring managers on their history as a player rarely ever goes well to be fair, two completely different skill sets. I have to hand it to Gerrard though he did far better at Rangers than I expected, but seems to be struggling with the PL, he doesn’t really seem to have pushed them beyond what they could have expected with Dean Smith.
Villa and also Leeds fans are some of the most bumptious in the PL. Despite winning nothing for years their histories seem to give them a superior attitude, even to the more established teams. I was disappointed that Leeds avoided the drop for that reason.
