Good Morning. It's Monday 29th August, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road.

    Seagulls sink below par Leeds

Leeds slipped to their first defeat of the season on Saturday, as the Seagulls soured above their visitors in the table. Recent trips down to the Amex Stadium have never been kind on the Whites; but on this occasion, the better team won. Brighton were a lot more inventive than the visitor; their threaded balls, and pace on the counter-attack were a constant worry for the Leeds defence, who had little to offer in the first 45 minutes.

A mixture of last gasp defending, and resolute goal keeping ensured it wasn't going to be a walk in the park for the hosts. Albion's biggest chance of the first half came half-way through the first half when Solly March latched onto Pascal Gross's through ball, leaving the Leeds defence playing catch up. Fortunately, on this occasion, Meslier pulled off a fine save to ensure stalemate at half-time.

Leeds were a lot brighter after the break, and created problems for the Brighton defence; their best coming on the hour mark. Arronson's wizardry in the Albion penalty area almost conjured up a goal for Sinisterra. unfortunately, he ended up colliding with the woodwork.

Five minutes later, Brighton were ahead. Trossard fed a short diagonal ball into the path of Gross in the Leeds penalty area. His first time strike beat Meslier at his far post. Leeds had opportunities to draw level, though on the balance of play, Brighton deserved their three points.

Leeds prepare second bid for Gnonto

Leeds are preparing an improved offer for Wilfried Gnonto according to various media sources. He has been in stunning form for Zurich, which has earnt the 18yo a place in Roberto Mancini's Italy squad. Victor Orta has already seen a £4.2m offer turned down by Swiss heavyweights, but with Bamford's recent injury problems, it has been decided that their front line needs greater strength in depth.

Bournemouth and Club Brugge are also interested in the forward, but sources from Italy indicate that Gnonto has his heart set on a move to West Yorkshire. Leeds have already agreed personal terms with Gnonto, who has less than twelve months left on his contract, yet Zurich are still demanding approximately double what Leeds offered earlier this month. £8.5m seems like small change compared to some asking prices. Should Leeds just pay the asking price, or continue to haggle?

    Cooper suffers injury setback

Leeds skipper Liam Cooper is set for a further spell on the sidelines after it was revealed he picked up a calf injury during his comeback match against Barnsley last week. The Leeds skipper, who turns 31 tomorrow, was hoping to travel down to the Amex last weekend, but had to settle for a trip to see the physio instead. Although minor, Jesse Marsch was not able to indicate when the Leeds skipper will be back in action.

Good morning from wakeyland. Cooper looks to be a passenger now just another sick note. Bamford is not right and we cannot afford to wait for him. He may last a few games and break down again. Dallas i think is a write off as Marsch said new year. Will Ayling regain his fitness because if he does can he play left back.
Everton signed Maupay because they needed him. Would this young striker be used for the first team?. If so then where does that leave joffy /perkins/joseph?.

I wish they would sign a left back and at £5m Charlie Taylor could be the answer. We have or should have plenty of money to spend so Willie is not going to cost a fortune and good morning to all from a dull Bardsey

Morning all. Fed up of all this nonsense of signing players. Well be making do with what we have till the same old stories are repeated again in January. Have to admire Forest for giving survival a real go, whether it works or not remains to be seen. Anyway, Everton game will be a bit season defining. Lose again were probably looking at bottom third. Win and we could already be opening up an 8 point gap to the troubled area. Everton messed up our last season with the horror show we produced against them

I may be wrong but I dont see Gnonto coming as think it will cause problems in the camp. Like Wakey says where does it leave 20yo Joffy because little Willy will get in ahead of Joffy and Willie is only 18yo. We already have 2 18yo kids in Sonny Perkins and Mateo Joseph Fernandez pushing. Will they accept Willie?

Still time to move on Bogusz 21yo, McCalmont 22yo.

Can we rely on Ayling to walk back in as a starter or back up to Kristensen? Because we could end up selling Drameh

    Good morning all
Disapointing result on Saturday, but was not unexpected or the end of the world either, Brighton being our bogey team and a descent team at that, will comfortably finish top half. However as your all saying and the Leeds bosses must realise this a LB & striker is imperative to finish of the Marsche machine, so let's get Gnonto (if he is any good over the line before it's to late and once again we miss the opertunity, 8.5 m seems a no brainer to me, also need a LB, but no time left this window?, but one out of two would be a bit of good business to me.

Cooper has an injury set back again... Shock horror. It really is time to take stock of who's gonna be sidelined constantly and get rid and then bring in new players. We can't just keep these players hanging on.

Cooper, Bamford and Dallas need to go. Keeping Dallas on to the New Year or possibly longer if he's crocked. It's time for him to be gone.

How much is Zurich wanting for Gnonto? And to answer somebody's question. He's not Premier League ready. I'd say pass on him. we need players for now not a year down the line for if we get relegated. Buy somebody who is ready for 1st football come Saturday when we play Brentford.

My thoughts on this is, IF he has a good footballing brain, and is an instinctive striker, who manages to find the right space at the right time in and around the box, be it it in league 1 or swiss league, could do the same in the prem and at that sort of price could be well worth the punt.

Yeah I'm only going by what I've heard and that is the club's bosses don't think he's Prem ready yet Granted many would disagree as he's played for the Italy Squad 4 times and scored against the Germans.

Forest have signed a left back on loan from Athletico Madrid, a sure sign as any that makes me think we are done in the transfer market this summer.

Agreed and in some respects its a bargain. Marsch has already said he is one for the future, so if not ready now we need someone else. Darko was bought as one for the future too Mike but playing mainly U21s, can you see an Italian full international playing for the U21s?

See it can happen, a team takes a punt on a player with no prem experience, and that looks a good deal
