Are Turkish clubs somewhat rich? Because they seem to be able to attract fairly big names on occasion. Redmond is good enough for half a dozen Premier League sides still and therefore the majority of teams on the continent. Seems strange to go to Turkey.
I don’t feel that there’s that much between them in terms of quality to be honest. I still think that if we got any bids for either of them we’d sell both of them.
At least Redders appears to put in a real shift whereas Ely potters around the pitch doing very little
West Ham allegedly in for Bednarek as well. Wonder if that means he will go on a permanent deal to one of Villa or West Ham They’re both in the same position that their big money centre back signing of the summer is out for the season through injury so you have to assume they only want a loan but with both in maybe one will take him permanently just to ensure they get him. Leicester have been linked with him for ages aswell and now Fofana has gone could want him too. A bidding war would be interesting
Shame a bidding war couldn’t have happened a month ago, not with a few days left in the window. Bednarek is only 26, PL experienced, a full international and was our best defender (not saying a lot admittedly) for several seasons. Not to mention he’s contracted until 2025. We are happy for him to leave but I’d still like to think he’s worth at least £15m in todays market.
Don’t think the length of time left in the window is necessarily a bad thing. Teams could panic and just throw out a figure as there aren’t too many options for them now. Interesting thing will be who we replace him with, as surely we will sign somebody and teams like Villa/West Ham would know that whoever that is is also available but prefer Bednarek
In terms of what we could get for him, and multiple teams needing a CB I suppose it could drive up his worth more than earlier in the window. I imagine it would have been better for us in terms of replacing if he had gone earlier though. That said I’m not even sure if we will replace it only Bednarek goes. If we’re confident of moving Stephens on too, even just on loan, then we’d have to bring one in, and at this stage in the window and with multiple clubs needing CBs that might be a challenge. Might end up just keeping hold of Stephens until January and then reassessing.
Unless with Lyanco in first reserve, we think Simeu is nearly ready? Agree if both Beddy and Jack go, then we need another, probably. I'd probably shift Bednarek and keep Stephens as second reserve.
I'd have thought Simeu would have got the cup game if we thought he was ready to be 4th choice this season, though maybe that's not how it works I don't know. I think at this stage of the window it probably makes sense (if we can) sell Bednarek and keep hold of Stephens. We'd have to otherwise be very confident we can replace with the right player and we still seemingly/hopefully have a busy final few days of the window anyway in other positions in and out. ABKs brilliant start may also have calmed our nerves on the CB front as there was talk a few weeks back (before we switched to 4 and brought ABK in) of Ralph wanting to bring in that leader at the back that we've so often talked about.
Out for the first half of the season and also far too injury prone. Missed 25 games last season with muscle injuries
Would you be worried if you were a Forest fan? They’re about to sign Renan Lodi from Athletico. I mean, they’ve gone full FM style…
