It's not Panorama, it's common knowledge. Once kids get to that age, they go to the clubs Academy or centre of excellence and don't play for Sunday teams anymore. It's happened for years.

there is still much un-tapped talent if you know where to look ? the problem is that now the old school scouts are either retired or dead that stream of recrutement is left un-used.

Clubs don't allow players to play for school teams because of the risk of injuries. It's not necessarily that they're worried they'll get injured, but that most of the times a school team's 'physio' is a guy with a sponge, a few plasters and a 2 year old first aid course qualification.
My younger cousin plays for City and despite the fact that they allow him to play for East Riding from time to time, his dad doesn't let him because he thinks their physios are in his words "****ing useless".

So basically it's the treatment they'd get should they get injured that worries teams about youngsters (in my experience at least)

Completely agree - if I knew who/how to send a link or something to contact Panorama I'd do so - anyone else?

while it's a decent enough idea to buy up the talent or any of the talent it's not going to find favour on here and i've read enough mindless whinging moaning twats on here and other city boards banging on and on and on endlessly and boringly about the fact we are still paying some overrated useless 19 year old kid a massive £50 a week and he STILL hasn't scored any first team hattricks for us yet and he's a load of **** and is never going to make it and should be shipped out to hall road rangers fifth XI because that's just about his level, the bloody donkey.

you know who i'm talking about.

We had a 7M bid rejected for Maynard and a 6.5M bid rejected for Nikica Jelavic from Rangers

Our best signing has been David Nugent and he cost us nothing. Money doesnt always mean everything

Not forgetting we paid 4M for Matt Mills and only 250K for Sol Bamba. Is Matt Mills 16x the players Bamba is. NO. I would say they are about on par with each other

So that shows its all about how you spend your money not how much your got. But obviously having more helps

Actually good banter for somebody on this board. Well done.
Awful, half-arsed regurgitation of the above joke. Try harder.

That Mills fee (and bidding £7M for Manard) is a joke, that much for a Championship defender (or striker with 1 year left on their contract) is just ridiculous.

Not a bad price for Bamba though, how old is he now? We were linked with him a few years back (for more than that) but it was completely the wrong time for us to go for him. At the time we had Leon Cort who was a very similar player but better than Bamba.

Sol Bamba is 26 and is quality miles better then Leon Cort. Only problems is he tries to play the ball out all the time instead of just getting it clear from time to time

I meant at the time we were linked with him Cort was better than Bamba was. Thinking about it, it must have been just after we'd sold Cort to Palace though because I didn't go to Paris to watch Bamba every couple of weeks and he only joined Dunfermline the same summer we sold Cort. Must have been during that following season when Turner was struggling to replace Cort (who'd been very good for us alongside Delaney) that we were linked with him because I definitely advised against it and described him as a poor man's Cort. Didn't realise Bamba was only 21 at the time though, not that it would have made a difference to my view on a move, we needed an instant change not a player for the future.
