After today's meltdown, can you imagine if the club and Neil come out with a joint statement saying he's staying, and all the other rumours are bollocks ? The only thing that's been confirmed so far is that he was allowed to speak with Stoke, the rest is he says/she says

I wouldnt know to laugh or cry
The only people truly happy would be the film crew you just couldn’t write it the 1st day of filming and we have a **** storm

Barnes can **** off as well, ****ing muppet. Neil blitzed him in every interview.
I’m not a fan of his commentary but he was right. Neil had 12 month rolling contracts at Preston, he would have ****ed off from them if the right club had come in before he was eventually sacked. Neil had a clause put in his contract that he could speak to other clubs, the bloke didn’t want to be here long term and that’s fact not spin.

It’d be like taking back a girlfriend who wanted some space, was seen out with another lad but promises you she never sucked his cock

you’d never fully trust her again

**** right off. Warnock the dinosaur !!!! Same with Dyche and Keane who people have been saying they want. ****ing no. And no again. And another **** off.

Sorry… none of the swearing is aimed at you, just at the mere suggestions of those three managers
I’m not feeling the love marra. :emoticon-0105-wink:

Just my twopence worth.

SAFC was Alex Neil’s employer at the end of the day. I don’t know if a contract was requested by Neil or offered (Prehab seems to think one was requested and either not good enough or denied but we just don’t have enough info to make a judgement)

I just think that at the end of the day he didn’t have enough respect for US as a club to stick around and was off at the first sniff of interest.

if a player had done that AN would be seething.

He was quick to dig broadhead out for not getting everything he wanted and going elsewhere…

Maybe should of seen more into the comments during the press conference about the transfers and the door being smashed down.

Club and fans need to move on as quickly as possible, but all the time there is no statement from SAFC or Stoke it's limbo time.

With that in mind, should he have even been offered the job in the first place?

Not me. I blame both the club and Neil. To leave a club because of transfer policy to go to a club not allowed to spend is hypocrisy. He also knew the club’s policy. Also to demand a 4 year (if reports are to be believed) contract then accept a shorter one at stoke again smacks of hypocrisy. Not sure how many 4 year deals are out there these days.

The club have to shoulder as much responsibility, for not offering at least a decent contract. Don’t blame them for sticking to their transfer model,
Yup this for me, I have also said both parties are to blame, but there is no way I will condone Neil’s actions nor timings. Both are appalling and totally disrespectful to the club but most of all to us fans, who do not deserve this at all

For all we know he requested the rolling contract with a clause allowing him to speak to other clubs. The club might not be at fault whatsoever other than agreeing to this contract when they employed him. Let’s just wait and see what comes out, I’m past caring now I’m ready for a pint. Haway the lads!

It's worth bearing in mind too that those knocking the door down comments only came after we'd lost/had a bad performance, it was the only time he expressed dissatisfaction with how the window was going - he's always had a touch of petulance and self preservation when his teams don't perform.

The problem is that it went public. I've received offers or applied for jobs while employed then decided to stay at the current job.

Technically, (from a contractual pov) this is no different from that. Except in this case, the current boss has been told Neil wants to leave, before Neil made a final decision and no contract signed with Stoke. I've never let my previous bosses find out until new offer was officially on the table, even if using it as a negotiation leverage.
Plus here, not only Neil current boss found out, but so did the public. In most of our jobs, we don't have thousands of fans to piss off or annoy

He has the same contract at Norwich and Preston so I'm guessing it was his choice
