Be fair, he seems to be recovering from his irony bypass operation.
As an aside I always have a grin at the snowflake guff, it totally ignores the fact that when snowflakes melt and evaporate they form clouds which have the potential to create killer hailstones. :emoticon-0100-smile

Why do you need to live in Hull to understand?

No worthwhile response. Sit down, shut up, carry on.

    You wouldn’t understand anyway.

I don’t think you understand what irony means.

Repeating the same feelings of inadequacy week after week isn’t irony, It’s actually tedious & sad.

Holding onto the anger they have for going on 40 years is the definition of having a massive chip on their shoulder.

No part of this thread is ironic. It whinging & moaning by sad old farts.

Oh dear, you mention fish and chips and Ric Glasgow counters with 'fishing for compliments', 'feeding on scraps', and 'a pattie on the back'. It seems to me you think irony is a pair of underpants for sale in the Scunthorpe United club shop! If you find this thread tedious and sad you're under no obligation to carry on reading it. That is all. :emoticon-0100-smile

The discussion was regarding the thread not to create more pages of gormless & unfunny puns.

Like I said he had nothing worthwhile to add.

Because we live amongst it every day 24/7, and in my case have done for a long, long time. City lose and we are beaten/rubbish/under par/not good enough/and so on. Fc lose and they are brave/plucky/resilient/fighting even......and this is playing against the same eleven clubs year after year, all on an equal level. I know it's only in the local media but thrown at us over a considerable time and the **** sticks. You have to be amongst it to feel it. The constant battle for the morale high ground from the RL fraternity over football, or soccer, even wendy ball as they like to call us. Their game is better then ours, more honest, more skilful, and they are the best at it, Hull is even the capital of it, more family friendly, they create a better atmosphere then we do, the fans are more loyal, they even spend more on the concourse then we do, yes, it even comes down to that. Football is played by cheats, watched by hooligans and played by prima donnas, all myths fed by the local media and believed, and shoved down our throats by those who swallow the lies. I have yet to meet a Hull Fc fan who genuinely supports Hull City, I know plenty who also 'support' Man U, Liverpool, Chelsea, and the usual suspects in the PL, none who support Fc and the Hartlepool's. The local pub to our stadium today will see the landlord serving behind the bar in an Fc shirt, his mate in a Spurs shirt, they never have a good word to say about City. I've seen FC fans in full replica gear on a City match day cheering for the opposition. They hate football when it suits them as they love it when they can attach themselves to one of the PL big boys in the vain belief that they too are on par in their tiny world of RL. It really is pity full. Its a bit like 'Good old Hessle Road' every one who lived on there was a rough diamond with a heart of gold, hard working, honest, down to earth, etc etc and no other part of Hull came close, didn't matter, didn't exist. Again total fabrication, yet still churned out today.
I will leave you with this fact. When City's gates go up ( like they are at the moment) Fc's go down, it's as simple as that and that my friend is the real reason why, in this city, RL will be championed by some and will always battle to gain the moral high ground over football. Jobs and livelihoods depend on it. We are a divided city alright but not just by two rugby league clubs, UTT!

So you’ve never met someone who supports both City and FC, yet when City do well their gates go up and FC’s go down. That simply makes no sense.

    What UP said.
Ps.. RL will be gone in 10 years. Its dying on its arse. Why I don't advocate this is a good thing. It's the reality .

And your 'worthwhile' addition is where exactly?

He means they are glory hunting twats who stop going to FC when they lose, like they have recently, not that they will come to City.
As proved by the Allams, thousands of regulars stopped coming, and now they are coming back

That sounds like you have a massive chip on your shoulder (look up the meaning if you’re struggling) & greatly enhances my point.

It’s your choice to have let the negativity you describe affect you for over 40 years, your choice to let it batter (just to please those who only appreciate gormless & unfunny puns) you down for over 40 years, your choice to tediously repeat the same insecurities week after week, your choice to presume nobody understood the point your trying to make the first time, your choice to not accept it’s a boring topic, your choice to not see that having an 18 page thread dedicated to Hull, that shows, you repeatedly crying about your chip is embarrassing.

For clarification: “your”, “you etc is not aimed directly at you but rather the whole group of you. I wouldn’t want to add to the paranoia.

I also, in part, agree with some of your points, I just don’t let it affect me.

Suggesting “I wouldn’t understand” because I don’t live in Hull is kind of mute when two of your main allies don’t live in Hull either. It’s also a little ignorant to assume I have no contact with the area. The internet extends beyond Hull if you’re stuck with the concept.

My point is repeating the same stuff week after week, month after month, season after season is boring & does little to enhance support for your grievances. It’s not even done is a comical way, it’s simply regurgitation of the same irrelevant garbage. Showing you’ve had anger issues about this irrelevant stuff for 40 odd years is playing straight into their hands.

Anyway enough, it’s the weekend. What’s your prediction? Do you think Toulouse can grab a result?

Even more irrelevant garbage. Stick with puns kiddo, you found your level. Unless you mean the chip I have regarding racists & homophobes, then yes it’s a massive chip that I happily carry.
