Good review of game on Sky and the well worked goals. Saints wrapped it up in 1st half but then took their foot of pedal and found it harder to raise game when 'Boro scored. Lesson to be learnt there. Said Saints will only get better and really praised Saints. Made interesting point about whether Nigel will want to get players in in January and perhaps disturb the team, whereas fans always want signings.
Adkins, "We didn't pass it quick enough in the second half. It's as simple as that! But we have 3 pts" Just heard his interview as I got in the car, and do you know that sums up tonight perfectly. He knows his stuff that fella. Long drive now.
Weird game, was the most one sided stress-free games I've seen for a long time, until they scored and then it was far too nervy. Shows that when you drop down a gear or two, it's difficult to get going again. But a win is all that matters. Not sure the subs helped us tonight, Rickie had a pretty poor game by his standards.
Well i am shocked where was that trashing saints where going to give us, Not saying you didt win on merit because you did. Shame frecks couldt keep his feet on the ground. At least we can hold our head high done better than most teams who have come to st marys utp
100% Correct, it is, as we know always difficult to play against a 10 man wall, ask Reading! yes Rickie seemed to get all the simple decisions wrong tonight, passing when he should have shot and shooting when a pass was on, ho hum, he was still effective and there was one memorable defensive header at a crucial time. A bit worrying, Lala took an elbow in the face, Guly took another knock on his leg, Chaplow took a dead leg late on. Still playing that passing game, it is pretty to watch but we need to be more efficient in the box. Still, 5 points clear which is unbelieveable, well done Pompey keeping a rampant Palace quiet, and could have won it if the Wotsit hadn't missed a sitter!
P/Boro fans were criticising Sinclair earlier, maybe they will change their tune after his cameo tonight.
It was that sending off that ruined the game, your ten man brick wall was very efficient, well done on a good effort, but we are on a roll and had just enough class to cope tonight.
But I hope we've learnt how close you can be from disaster. As Adkins says: Hard work beats talent if talent doesn't work hard.
My opinion of Sinclair hasn't changed,he is not championship material. Saints fans saw him in his cameo appearance,Posh fans have seen him in several matches for 90 minutes and that's where their opinions come from
Is your Sinclair the older brother of our young Sinclair, scoring goals for fun in our academy, or have I got the wrong older Sinclair..?
Well all I can say is that you must get behind your players, negative opinions won't help, I thought he looked quite sharp tonight, maybe he will come good, still would like to nick Boyd off of you, he is a player I like the look of!
BBC: "The win was a 17th straight home league victory for Nigel Adkins' side, who have made their best start to a season in 55 years." Grr...we are 15 games in!!
